Hey!

I have the problem, that the game crashes random, mostly at the loading screen. It dont crashes at the same percent loading bar position, sometimes its's 11%, sometimes 98%.
This happens on all maps, but some work more often than other. Kokan works always, Muttrah crashes like 50% at loading and other maps never work regardless if they are new (from the new mappack) or old maps.
I tried to reinstall all maps (BF2 R part1, part2, part3), but it didnt fix it.

System:
Amd Phenom II X4 965 3,4GHZ
8GB RAM
nVidia GTX560Ti

Updated from 0.96 to 0.97 some time ago. BF2 is on 1.5 and works fine!

What OS are you using?
Any problems with other games that load large files?


First thing, you might just need to defrag the drive that has PR installed. The PR installer places files just about anywhere, and will fragment the bigger map files into dozens of fragments sometimes.

The defrag program that comes with Windows is good enough for this

I personally use the FREE defrag program called mydefrag from MyDefrag v4.3.1 . But of course in Germany you have your native software company that makes O&O defrag, which is also great.

That would be the easiest first step, you can analysis the drive first, to save time.
