Before any genius retards say it, it's a steam install so it updates automatically. I'm running updates from .957 all the way to whatever the most recent is.
No idea what's wrong.
Anybody got any ideas?

Didn't work, I suppose I'll have to redownload Pr. Damn bandwith caps make that a hazard.

You have a known issue, the link above will work.
Tell us what OS and if 32 or 64 bit version.
You do NOT need to download PR install files again.
WOrk with us and we'll help you out.
You should be playing in under 30 minutes

Going to take a guess and say that you've only downloaded BF2 via steam, and you haven't played it for the first time, hence it hasn't finished its install and placed the registry information that tells the installer what version you have.

^ This. I agree, it must be that. Do what Ancient said and run vBF2 once then install PR.

check the files pr donwload part 1 , 2 and 3.

I had the same issue and resolved it my going into the registry and manually changing the version to 1.5, if you are certain the patch installed correctly this might be the quick fix you're looking for.

(Not sure if I should post the procedure or not for fear it might cause a worse problem even though it was apparent to me the moment I realized it was in fact a registry issue)

Edit: Just spoke with Commie and this is apparently not the issue at hand.

If none of those help uninstall PR delete BF2 folder in My documents, run BF2 once, and reinstall PR. Get full 0.973 installers. Some of yours might got corrupted.

I did all the things you guy said to do, and it still gives me the EXACT error. Can someone please help me. (Except for i have Vista). And my error seems to be a tad Different

Your install path is not your root Battlefield 2 directory.
Project Reality: BF2 requires Battlefield 2 v1.5 to be installed first.
