Suppressive fire!

Lately ive noticed that suppressive fir is actually somewhat effective. I have taken part in/created some threads about how nobody gives a fjord about suppressing fire and just stands back shooting you, actually killing you and how it should be changed to even more hardcore distraction.

But yeah, people seem to "play by the rules" nowadays and my prayers have been heard. I also avoid 1v1 shootouts and rather relocate so i am witnessing less stupid deaths/kills.

Atleast something good in the palayerbase that has changed. :P

Suppressive fire is great imo, but people tend to misunderstand...

one dude shooting at windows isn't gonna suppress stuff, but 2-3 guys can do it, perhaps with an AR and or grenadier thrown in, they can pin a hard position down while you arrange the killing blow, or withdraw

rudd even one guy can pin down a whole squad from a good position...
give him potics and cover and ammo and he can keep u pinned by shooting every 1 second no problem(only with reloading)

Bullexcrement, if somebody does that to me, it just takes me 2 seconds to judge your position, then i will return fire with much larger volume than your 1 bullet per second.

I mean, one guy shooting at the window will supress the one guy he is shooting at, but the rest of his squad has a clear shot on you, so, waste of ammo.

rudd even one guy can pin down a whole squad from a good position...
only if they are 1) clumped together 2) in a bad position 3) have the situational awareness of a blind hedgehog....in a bag :D

AR is a different story. Also type of cover is another one. It depends on the situation really.

Back in the days of 0.7 or so, when there was the nilla m249 with stock zoom and everything, it was a complete killing machine. I was on the Archer castle, shooting down taliban like noones buisness while the rest of the squad handed out commendations. It was extremely good for killing back then, and i mastered that shit. Then during the various trials with AR weaponry, i let it rest for it was really clunky and unuseful and focused on SLing, but nowadays im back in the saddle, sending lead downrange like a maniac. It is one of the most useful kits... in the world.

I have been using suppressive fire since my first days on PR, the main issue with it is that people doesn't react correctly to it, most of the players under suppressive fire will return fire in an accurate way (like stop - aim 5 seconds - shoot), and sometime they will hit you, and this is frustrating. Theses days, like you said, people tend to be more "careful" and tend to take cover when pined and rarely pop their head out to aim at you, which make suppressive fire more effective.

I use suppressive fire 1v1. But its against windows and corners and on long distance. It is hard to do in terrain IMO, since you cant see if the object you hit next to the opponent is close or not.

If a mec rifleman shoots at my squad, i usually take a few well aimed shots at his location, and they duck to cover. Giving my Squadmembers some seconds to take cover.

Any fire is a implication of position, so it cant be used as a sustained suppres, you will be spotted and taken out.

But using the objects or walls next to people, or shooting at them if you see them is very effective. Just for a few seconds.

Lol.

You have to know how to shoot while being suppressed. If you know where the shooter is, 1v1, you can still kill him, as long as you know how to aim ^^

Suppression is a mindset. If you get out of the mindset, you are no longer suppressed.

You guys are a bunch of liers. imagine being in a room with constant fire. as you are suppressed u cant hear people walking upstairs, you really cant see them walk in either. suppression fire is made to scare you. and slow your abilities. you may not know it but suppression fire does affect you.

using a fire team of of 3 guys to use semi auto fire slowly so that the fireteam never has a gap in firing is the best. you use the other 3 guys to grenade the **** out of the enemy while their heads are down. thats what AR and Grenadier are for.

Probibly like this.
(1)SL, AR, medic = suppress
(2)GL, Rifle, rifle = Engage

Hence why suppression only works if you get a fireteam doing it together :)

I frequently go full auto, right after sighting in on targets in cover at 100m+ for the purpose of suppression, or nice and methodical if theyre already suppressed.

seems to work okay. It makes me frustrated when I watch PR videos and I see people in firefights trying to do the "sight, duck and pop up for accurate shot" technique because it so rarely works

The T buildings are a ***** to get out of once another squad has you suppressed, especially when your squad doesn't know that your feet can stick out if you're prone in a corner.

I often spend 50% ammo at least per one solid engagement. If im AR, then 80-90% and I always save two mags or a bag/box for any emergency. While normal dudes go for those retarded aimed shots and die before even going through two magazines.

Are you sure you're playing the same game? Suppression works if the guy thinks he will die if he pops his head out....which is rare since this is a video game and people give their virtual lives little value. Other then that chances are you are spraying at a position the opponent has since vacated and is now moving to flank your static firing position.

Let's not forget that while you may have 3 or so guys focusing on the enemy position he also has his squad that now knows where your guys are and will do their best to drop you.

My personal opinion is:

Waiting until an enemy feels safe and sticks their head out, then blasting them > Wasting your ammunition blasting away at nothing, then getting popped when you're reloading.

Plus suppressive fire gives you tunnel vision.

You don't either supress or don't. You supress when the situation calls for it. When the situation calls for a calculated shot in the forehead, then that's what you should do. Jesus.
