The award winning Project Reality Team is proud to announce the official release of Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 BETA!

Six months after our initial release, we have been hard at work fixing bugs and working on new gameplay features and missions. You can find more details on all of these changes and features below.

You can download and install the mod one of two ways. The easiest way is via the self-installer.exe. The second and most difficult way is to download the 7-Zip to manually install. To avoid any potential problems, we strongly advise all players to use the self-installer.exe to install the mod.

Thanks to several direct link providers, there are a number of mirrors available to download Project Reality: ARMA 2, including a torrent. You can find all of the download links and information here:

Please note that you must have ARMA2: Combined Operations installed and be running the ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead v1.60 patch in-order to play the Project Reality: ARMA 2 mod. In addition we highly recommend using the latest BIS beta patchas there have been several important bug-fixes since patch 1.60. If you use a beta patch, ensure you add the switch '-beta' to your Project Reality shortcut. More help available in the forums if required.

BETA Release
As with PR:ARMA2 v0.1 back in September, this release is a BETA and therefore should NOT be considered a final product. It should also be noted that this is v0.15 of a brand new mod on a new game engine and should not be compared in anyway to the Project Reality: BF2 modification. The aim of this BETA release is for the PR Team to get quality feedback to ensure that we are progressing in the right direction with the PR:ARMA2 mod.

We have various assets and a new island almost complete, but they are simply not ready to be included in this BETA release. In some cases placeholders have been implemented so that we can concentrate on the more important gameplay aspect of the mod to ensure we get it right first.

As with any BETA release, the quality of future releases now lies with you, the community, and the feedback you provide. As is normal with any Project Reality release, we will not take on any feedback for at least 2 weeks. This time period will allow players to adapt and fully understand the PR:ARMA2 gameplay concept before commenting. Therefore, the feedback forums will remain locked for the next 2 weeks.

New Features and Changes
While this release is primarily focused on BETA testing, you can still find some new Project Reality additions and features in the PR:ARMA2 v0.15 BETA release.
  • Many bug fixes
  • Performance and network optimisation
  • Added US Army faction
  • New missions, including 6 on Chernarus
  • Game mode modifications
  • New vehicle maintenance and cargo systems
  • Woodland FV510 Warrior
  • Familiar weapon switching system using number keys

Known Bugs and Issues
Over the last 6 months of development, the v0.15 BETA build has undergone extensive testing by our in-house testing team. However, inevitably some bugs remain. We encourage you to make yourselves aware of these known bugs so that they we do not get repetitive bug reports. All currently known bugs are listed in the following forum thread:

Project Reality: ARMA 2 Mod Support
If you encounter any problems while installing and/or playing PR:ARMA2, please check out the Project Reality Mod Support forum. If your problem has not already been posted by someone else or is not in the above known bug list, please do not hesitate to start a new thread asking for help. We will do everything we can to provide you with a solution, but we can't do anything if you don't ask first!

Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 BETA Servers
As with the previous release, we will not be publicly releasing any server files. This will ensure that the official servers are populated and therefore will provide us with better overall feedback. Once the BETA has finished, we will open up server license applications as usual. We hope to bring that to you very soon!

The following organizations/communities have kindly agreed to provide servers during the v0.15 BETA test and are classed as the Official PR Servers for the duration of this BETA phase:Image Alpha Networks Official PR v0.1 Beta Test Server [@PR 0.15]

There are 5 servers currently up. Make sure you are running PR version 0.15. If so check your filter settings - it should be [@PR 0.15]

Excellent work!
I especially like the new kit icons on the squad management screen. They are nicely sorted, how it should be.

Cheers.

Lol. We had one or two servers maxxed out at the same time, or approaching it, today and there was just some awesome games. I'm loving it. I just finished playing 7 hours and I have to stop now and pretend that there are other things in life worth spending time on ;)

I'm seeing lots of new player names which is great and lots of the regulars too, doing some awesome teamwork coordinating their separate squads. It's a real pleasure.

Based on some of the experience with new players today my 2 main pieces of advice for today for new players is 1) to read the manual. The better you know it, the more you Win :) 2) The other advice is not to expect to just pilot a helicopter. One player insisted on doing so, without comms, and kept getting them destroyed at the frontline. A second kept crashing them into the hills and players ultimately refused to fly with him. And a third insisted on piloting despite someone else being chosen to pilot the squad and then they quit the game out of frustration at not getting to pilot. Piloting is a genuine skill and greatly valued by the community. If it is done badly it can mean the death of many men, the loss of an asset, ticket hits, and a failed attempt to defend, capture or create FO's. So, players and squad-leaders may be reluctant to risk all of that with an untested pilot. If piloting is done well, it can mean the difference between winning and losing the game. If piloting is important to you, practice when you can and be patient. Little by little you will eventually get opportunities to pilot and build trust with other players who will then look to you to provide that service. If you try to force it, you may rub people the wrong way.
Ultimately though, the game benefits most from players who are willing to do whatever it takes to help their squad and their side - whether it's attacking, defending, marching, driving, piloting, building, leading, etc etc.

Anyway, as I said, I'm loving v0.15 and the teamwork I saw today was as good as any yet - so thanks to the dev team and I look forward to more carnage :)

Cheers,
Swedge

I lol'd hard. Yeah noticed a lot of ppl wasting choppers tonight. Swedge has a valid point, read the manual, train to fly, get on comms.

But you first need to learn the basics of infantry fight, and then move to advanced roles like piloting is.
