While looking in the "Jabal without a dam" thread, it came to my mind.

In fushe pass, you have many different water levels, made with giant "puddles" so the map is not flooded. So I guess that it would be possible to have a map with areas under the sea level (I.E. Jabal) if you make water planes as big as the ocean in jabal (for exemple).

So is it possible to make water planes THAT big?

In a map like jabal, it would require major tweaking, like making the coast line way higher to match the new sea level or lower the rest of the map (impossible if you don't want to lose how the map is shaped) but that could work for a new map. Thoughts?

Yes its possible, the biggest I've made is 50kms by 50kms but there are a few complications to take into consideration with that kinda size, mainly lightmaps and fog but yes its very possible to have large waterplanes, but you need to know what your doing

Ok thanks for letting me know that it's possible. It was just a question, I'm not very interested in using it since I'm not making any maps with dams

Jabal 2 with real dam holding the water would be so immenely epic to look at probably...
