PR: Vietnam was released despite what the devs called "jokeception". The reactions and the link can be found here:

On a somewhat similar note, Goreziad created an excellent video that goes through the map history of PR. Definitely a cool watch if you haven't seen it already :D

I think the first time I played PR was 07 or 0.75. Some of my first memories include;

As MEC, being told to mine a road (on what I can only assume was Zatar Wetlands) and asking my SL how you get the mines out (hit 9 :p ).

Dune buggying it about on Kashan in a HMMV with a memorable American fellow by the name of OneArmWally.

And holding a flag on Ejod with 'nades exploding everywhere, people screaming over comms and dying and our SL - one Joe Pineapples - calmly instructing us to hold on. I think that was the one that hooked me :mrgreen:

Ah yes, I remember Hills of Spamgyong, and Helspamd Province!

And the littlebirds flipping on the carrier after the release of 0.322. It was... it was horrific.

I've seen the vid, and I wondered, what happened to Karkand, Mashtuur and Sharqi night maps? That's why I found all these earlier editions because I heard some of the deleted maps can still be used if you get the earlier edition and patch up to the latest, or use a 0.7 or 0.8 map pack. I am quite new and just got 0.97 with map pack. Can't wait for PR: Vietnam; comes out tomorrow!!!

I can proudly say that I've played every single release of PR up until now. I only played one of the earlier releases for a few days, but play it I did. It makes me feel old though.

If hills of hamgyong had had a safe spawning area for the attackers, it would have worked great :) no room to maneuver = bad. But I have fond memories, and its still fun in PRSP

good thread.

So many maps removed. PResently there are some maps that could stand to be removed, but I'd rather see them redone, than totally shelfed. Karbala, and basrah were a pretty big deal in the heyday of iraqi freedom, still are, and I enjoy playing depictions of real battles. Especially karbala, being in the sunni triangle.

I'll bet it does. Have you kept the files, out of interest. Because I am hoping to collect an archive of these things and (being a torrent user) I want to know if anyone still seeds the old ones.

I'm thinking the same. Not to worry though, it'll turn up.
