But I can't. Believe me, I love the idea of PR. Using tactics and teamwork to get an objective done using realistic weapons, vehicles and nicely laid out battlefields just makes me well, you get it.

But it just doesn't work for me I guess...

There's really only 1 or 2 servers I can get on at any given point. One of them is always playing Muttrah City too, so it kinda gets old after a while...

About %97-%99 of the available servers I see are either in some other country where my ping would be atrocious, are passworded, or don't have anybody in them.

PR: Vietnam? HELL YES, oh wait; there's only one playable server and it's locked.
(I find the Vietnam war very interesting and always wanted to play a realistic shooter of it.)

I can't seem to get mumble to work for me, so when the server uses that I can't really communicate.

So how can most people on here be having such a good time and getting that warm feeling of using teamwork????

-Most of us live in Europe which means that we aren't only closer to each other, most of us in Europe also have good internet.

Maybe somebody can help you with all your problems (mumble, servers, tricks) via skype or xfire, finding a buddy or a closer community should help you with making love to PR.

If you read the server names these "locked" servers are actually public and they provide the password. Take Sisu for example, the server name will have "Sisu 128 player test server pw = prftw" or something along those lines.

Having high ping doesn't affect gameplay as much as you may believe. The deviation system encourages thoughtful and deliberate movement not some frantic thoughtless rampaging towards the enemy, it also means you will notice the ping only when having to lead a target. Even with a slightly high ping you should figure out the extra after a few minutes, you will get the feel for it as if there is some wind influencing your shots.

Make sure you're using Mumble 1.0, and make sure you run it as admin. If there are still issue you should consider checking the support section of the forums.

I'd gladly help anyone get into PR, i find it the best way is to find a clan that suits you and find a person in it that can help you out.

Can you take a screenshot of the servers you see? I wonder if you have a filter on or something because like people said above, starting around 5pm EST there are usually several US servers up and they're rarely locked. And don't be afraid to join a UK server or another European server. As long as your ping is 150 or less, you'll be totally fine.

I play with 250 - 300 ping (from south america to europe or the US) and you can play perfectly. BF2 has an amazing network programing, it gets bad after 300.

also you usually find MANY populated servers.

nah i won't give up, you don't run the community, they should know before they accidentally do something in a immature server

simple, and trust me i won't stop letting my clan + others know about the immature rules some servers have.

Ignore your ping, it won't affect you unless it's over 300.
If the server is passworded, the password is most likely included in the server's name; usually something like "pw= password".

Okay Smooth. There are no pr servers that tolerate racism. There is zero tolerance for that. I wonder if people think that "no racism" Rules are immature. Maybe I'm missing your argument. When someone is being racist, and is kicked/banned, that is not abusing the community. That is enforcement of a rule. The day that it is "immature" to NOT be racist, please let me know so we can all change that rule for you.

Please try to get over your little fit you're having and realize that racism is not a joke. It appears that you think racism is okay. It isn't. Ask anyone.

Also to the OP. Tacticalgamer is a great server to join! And anyone there with a TG tag will gladly teach you anything and everything.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he's new. I think he is just trying to find a nice home that is populated during his times. Like most people said there are a few NA servers populated each night + the ping to most euro servers isn't that bad, and they sometimes run late into NA times.

You can't look at the server name for the password..?

it's the way you react to something that's immature, not the concept, and no there are servers that warn people or will talk to them if they say gook and it happens to have some vietnamese veterns on the server playing, i agree that is a disgrace to the vietcong man? /sarcasm

Whatever lets move to PM, and agree to disagree because obviously people are throwing this dumb stuff out of proportion and they don't even know why it got here in the first place.

would you whiteknights stop nitpicking about "racism"? It's really ruining the PR community with everyone being so damn oversensitive. I don't know what happened between you two but this is just my 2 cents

I don't want to backseat moderate, but stop fighting over which server you think is better and the server rules- go to the respective sites and argue there. Keep it civil please.

ON TOPIC- I find that EU servers are as good as US servers (i will switch between the two throughout the day). If a server is locked, look in the name in the password if it's a public server. And like some others have said, make sure you run PR Mumble 1.0 as admin.
