[Help] Making 3D iron sights. Need to find the center on screen

Hey right now I'm making 3D iron sights for Project Normandy, it's working good, except one thing, when in-game when I shoot, the bullets do not come where I point, since they come out of the center of the screen with the BF2 engine.

So is there any program out there that can pinpoint the center of my screen? Like place a virtual dot on the center of my screen? So when I align the sights in the editor + 3DsMax9, I will see where I need to align them.

I just need a program that can do that. Maybe even Microsoft Word can do it, I'm just asking anyway to find the center.

NOTE : I know that in some videos people were able to shoot off the center with BF2 engine, but this is not the point here.

You could try the alt-GUI of the M4 aimpoint. That has a red dot, right?

to find the centre of the screen in the editor, go to Render>Hud>Toggle Draw Ref Cross

So you mean that I can assign this Gui to the Garand for exemple and that it will center it properly?

The animation centers it properly. Giving the weapon that HUD or use the draw ref cross in the editor displays how far off you are ;) .

Strange, the reff cross says I'm right on the middle. But bullets were coming on the left in-game.

Ok I made some corrections, the aim is right in the center now. I just had to use the "rotate" tool in 3Dsmax9, did the trick. Thanks for the help, didn't know about the ref cross.

M1 Garand is finished, 10/10 perfect :D

Now going to do the other weapons.

you shouldnt also change the window size of the editor inside the editor (not moving the tweakbar or hiding the console at the buttom of the window), because it will of set the resloution

Looks good, need some tweaks for bringing up the sight but it's good, better than having 2d texture sights.

Hey AfterDune, guess who's doing troubles again? :

Ignored Warning[Physics] : Collision mesh "objects/weapons/handheld/hgr_incendiary/Meshes/hgr_smoke_signal.collisionMesh" not found.

Yes, when I try to load the Thompson in the editor it crashes because of the incendiary. Anyway I can fix this?

I guess I have to find this collisionMesh somewhere in the files and put it in my pr_edit so the editor can read the damn Thompson

Somehow the inciendiary is linked to the Thompson, that's what was crashing the servers when PN was firt released. So it was disabled, but now I need the collisionMesh :razz:

is this the whole message ?
i remember that problem with the huey collision meshes were searched in a wrong directory which confused the editor, simply copying the files to the strange location where the editor searched it fixed it

The position of the left hand feels a bit unnatural, he should be resting the gun on his palm, not on his fingers as it looks right now.
