Want to get a cheap joystick, this Saitek Cyborg V1 gets good reviews at only Euro25 - thought I'd ask here before clicking.

I bought a Cyborg a long time ago, and it performed pretty good for the price. The one problem that I had with it was the table space it took up, in my opinion much more than other similar joysticks. I later bought an ST290 Pro and have been using it since. I like the 290 a lot more, for several reasons.

The 290 has very similar button layout, throttle, etc although it lacks the "pinky" switch (which I rarely used). But the 290 takes up half the table space, and the adjustable wrist rest means you can use it longer with less fatigue.

If you can find a good new or used ST290 Pro available, you'd be a lot better off. Not only will it offer the exact same number of buttons/hat but it will take up less room and provide more comfort during use. I'm guessing you'll also be able to find a 290 just as easily, and for around the same price (?).

Actaully, any Saitek is good. All(literally) ALL of my sticks have been Saitek. Never used Logitech. I have:

Yes, I have alot, the Cyborg X and the X52 are at another location, but are mine > But this was from when I was a kid, up to now Crimson skies/CFS1 to FSX(?) Or any other modern sim/IL-2/Lock On/DCS game)

I had the X52 Pro as well, and it was a lot of fun. But the bright lights kind of annoyed me after a while, and I felt like it was more of an "arcade" controller than an actual "simulator" joystick. I preferred my Thrustmaster, for obvious reasons, but the X52 did an awesome job for its price range. Way better than other setups of the same bracket.

I did find the X52 series to be #1 badass for Mechwarrior though.


And yes, Saitek is in my opinion one of the best joystick manufacturers out there. While Thrustmaster has always been known as the "Ferrari or Lamborghini" of joysticks, they have a price tag to match. If you don't spend every waking hour running DCS A-10 or something, Saitek is the next best thing.

And if you do use civilian flight simulators, such as FSX, Saitek makes the best yoke system and panels that I've seen outside of a $1200+ model. Check out their Pro Flight collection if you're a serious sim pilot.

from what ive read this is the best cheap joystick you can buy

all of saiteks lower end joysticks may develop certain annoying prolems like a dead zone only when you push the joystick forward or any other direction and only in that direction

ofcourse the x52 is where its at when it comes to price to performance

Saitek is a very good choice for a joystick. I personally have an x52 and had it for years now
