Just putting it out there for the masses.
The Octagon that appears in all helicopters from time to time is an indication of what I'm dubbing 'Perfect Hover Zone' or really just the 'Hover Zone'. To explain is rather simple;
The octagon appears when you are in nearly or absolutely level flight with nearly no momentum in any direction beyond the vertical axis. At this moment the 'Octagon' should appear over your HUD in effectively the center of the 'Virtual Horizon'.
This Octagon should be considered a point of reference for your future hover needs and actually represents the exact point beneath you when you reached the 'perfect hover zone'. This is why the octagon moves 'down' when you move forward and moves 'up' when going back. (Did anyone else realize this before hand?)
Now in practice its a hard sob to utilize properly due to the general over sensitivity of the helicopter, but I feel with the right set up and practice this object will be very useful.
