Couple of things.
Give me the exact directory for your BF2 installation (i.e. where is your steam apps ). You could go find the pr.exe there and try to run it, it might fix your problem. You should also right click pr.exe there and "send to Desktop (create shortcut) for future use.
1. You MUST start vanilla BF2 once, create a user profile, and join a online server. This is to write a registry entry and to create a player profile. Close vanilla BF2.
2. Make sure your .NET is updated to 3.5 SP1. 3.5 SP1 comes preinstalled on Win7, but not for WinXP and Vista.
Next:
You will have a shortcut on the desktop named like this "Project Reality 0973"
5.Press right mouse button on it and click properties and change
the first thing to this :
Code:
"C:\GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +widescreen +szx 1440 +szy 900
Obviously YOUR installation is in a different directory location so do NOT change the location of your pr.exe shortcut target,
and optionally you can change the "+szx 1440 +szy 900" to your correct resolution.
Run it like this once and see if it fixes it.
Report back if you have problems.

Let us know what happens.
