Cannot Install

Okay, so the installer keeps telling me I don't have BF2 installed. Is there a workaround for this? I mean, I'm pretty sure BF2 is installed, because I can run it, lol. As a future installer suggestion, please remove that flag; if someone is dumb enough to spend 2 hours downloading all three installer files without having BF2 installed, let them make the mistake. Those of us with apparently faulty registries will thank you. :)

PS. If this post is in the wrong place, I apologize.

If you have a Steam version of BF2, there are a number of errors that can pop up when trying to install PR. The solutions to those can probably be found in the BF2 Support Forums. If you're not using Steam, idk really. Make sure you're selecting the proper root folder?

I'm pretty sure the only steam involved in my BF2 install was eminating from my ears. I have had loads of trouble in the past with BF2's disc installations. I guess all I can do is try a reinstall again.

Moved to support section

How about you give us some details what steps you've taken so far?

Most importantly is your BF2 fully patched?

What Noddy said, and this https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... 1-5-a.html

If you have BF2 on Steam look here, for after you install it.

Make sure you run BF2 at least once before starting PR, and run it as admin if on Win7.

Okay, my client was fully patched, I had run it several times (I played AIX2 a LOT), and I always ran it as admin. The problem was that I couldn't get PR to isntall because it kept telling me that BF2 wasn't installed, when clearly it was. This could, to my understanding, be caused be two things: either a problem with my registry, or a problem with the installer.

So far, the steps I have taken are to back up my mods and reinstall BF2. That didn't work the first time so I'm trying it again, this time deleting whatever files were left over (mostly readmes and such from other mods) after the uninstall before re-reinstalling. In fact, as I typed this, the BF2 installer came up with an error message telling me the install failed and that I would have to start back from the beginning. *sigh*

EDIT: Well, this is dumb... apparently between reinstalls my BF2: DE disc 1 got corrupted. Now I'm stuck without BF2.

Well you should read what we say and checkout links we post cause I already posted above what to do, and that will not involve reinstalling BF2.
'[R-DEV wrote:AncientMan;1626769']If you are experiencing the installer requiring you to have BF2 v1.5 installed, please read this.

This issue occurs when your registry is not set up correctly. Common issues that cause this is copying/moving BF2 folders, registry cleaners, and system restores. As for copying/moving folders, you cannot just simply copy a folder to a new computer or a different location and expect it to work, there is an installer there for a reason...

Anyway, the fix if you are absolutely certain you have BF2 v1.5 installed:

Instructions for modifying your registry to be showing the BF2 installed version as 1.5:
  1. If you are running a 32 bit operating system:
    1. Download the file: http://realitymodfiles.com/ancient/bf2_ ... re_x86.zip
    2. Extract and run the .reg file and press yes to merge the settings with your registry
  2. If you are running a 64 bit operating system:
    1. Download the file: http://realitymodfiles.com/ancient/bf2_ ... re_x64.zip
    2. Extract and run the .reg file and press yes to merge the settings with your registry
