Getting kicked for CD-key from just SOME servers

Is this the wrong section? Im sorry then...
Basically I have an origin copy of battlefield 2 CE and when I tried to join a server it would return "CD-key is not valid".
I followed the CD-key invalid sticky and now it works. Well, only for some servers.
My problem is that on most of the servers I get this same error, however on some servers e.g "pr2.vbios" and "3ebra x64 mumble" I do not get this error.
Is this something that is wrong with my game or does some servers actually require another cd-key?
I would be happy for any responses!

Some people rumour that you dont need a valid CD-key on vbios and 3ebra. They also work with cracked version of BF2. It seems that you made a mistake on the CD-key valid bug fixing. Just redo this fix.
EDIT: Also this thread belongs to the PR:BF2 Help section.

Then origin support must be doing something wrong as I'm getting an invalid cd key everytime im on support in that case, mhm...

After reinstalling Windows I had to manually add the CD key back to the registry. It's really simple.
Open regedit and browse to your Battlefield 2 folder (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Electronic Arts/ and so on. Inside the ergc folder, change the key to x9392[Your cd key without hyphens]. Without the brackets.

Moved to the correct section, just for the sake of completeness, please tell us which OS you are using

Windows 7, and I've already entered my cd-key in the registry.

Sorry but if nothing works from that thread your best bet is to contact reseller where you bought it and see whats wrong. Or you might try to reinstall it.
You said you use Win7 but is it 32bit or 64bit? In case its 64bit registry key locations differs from 32bit one
Code: Select all
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc
Its there for me but I have CD Deluxe version.

This is now fixed, turns out the Origin copy I had gotten from support wasn't even in the BF2 CD-key database. o_O
