So sad that here we have the PERFECT Vietnam game, realistic, immerse, and yet no one is playing. The popular servers could at least include it in the normal map rotation and not just let it get played once or twice a month.

I think the servers might have overkilled it, it will be back up soon.

Those are two (not all servers are included, if they lately got renamed for example) currently running american vietnam-servers:

2. [RIP]Rusty with Vietnam Beta 2

We tryed to populate our server for more than a week and only a few players connect. The problem is the new update that only a few poeple new. [NEW] and [762] try it, but if the maps switched to vietnam, more than the half server got disconnectet because of the wrong vietnam version.

Before the patch, the servers run with 64player each day.

Its your turn players to get the new version.

Indeed - that beta thing is not good, need official and proper releases.

This. Never managed to play Vietnam since the second version. Shame there is small amount of people who have it and who want to play Vietnam anymore. :/ I never played Battle of Ia Drang. QQ

Then unzip with 7zip 7-Zip extractnow ExtractNow - Extract multiple archives easily or winzip .
open the folders to the files in pr/levels - localization - and python/games . place them in the respective pr game folder. Program Files or Program Files(x86)/EA GAMES/Battlefield 2/mods/pr/levels and pr/localization and python/games and finally put the pr version text file in the pr folder. now the game is updated and ready to play.

We are currently running all 4 Vietnam maps on our Chicago server - ip 108.178.55.167 and mumble at the same ip. great looking maps and fun to explore even by yourself!

Just extract the zip into your BF2-folder, that's all you need to do. No need to individually extract things.

I think that anyone on the forums actually knows how to download beta 2, but there is large playerbase that is just not aware of next version of Vietnem, hence the problems. Especially installing it is not a rocket science, people just don't know. No one reads those small news reel at the bottom of PR menu. And since server name is not in red they just join. I remember that first evening after beta 2 was released server went to 8 from 64.

I myself would skip the news on forums, because I thought it's the old one for beta 2 that people still talk in.

True this is the issue. With each new beta release, the player count decreases dramatically and takes a while to build up again until everyone updates. I say, instead of having more beta releases, they should just work on the game until they are ready to release a Full, and finished official release.

Bugs found by the community, after release, also have to be fixed. It's just the way things go.

I believe the biggest problem here is with the Updater.

It doesn't work for me or anyone else with whom I play. If the Updater can be Hot-Fixed, with shortcuts in the Programs list and Desktop offered, It think that many more people would not crash.

To deploy this is simply a matter of marketing and programming in such a way that makes it as easy as falling off a log (.msi).

Yes, most Player dont know how to install maps by hand. Everyone needs an updater or a .exe file.

Maybe it would be easier to make a simple exe file instead of an updater. We have done an updater for USI and it was a lot work to get it working.

I have tryed the updater several times and only 1 time it work.

And that's why we had the updater, to fix all that. And it worked fine every time we used it. Just not on release day..

Need some official releases, not some beta stuff hidden in subsection.

Its not hidden, its shown in PR itself as news.

@AD, maybe we could fix the problem with the updater, it worked for me only one time in 10 tests.

I told everyone on the CIA Vietnam server a while back that this mod is gonna end up just like Normandy. I think the developers should just concentrate on Pr 2 and get payed instead of wasting there efforts to please the community that doesn't appreciate them and give rude remarks about the mod every chance they get.
