Player decline?

I've noticed some of my favorite servers down in population. Is there a decline in players or is it just me?
Makes me sad as hell because I really like this game and the anders sound mod is incredible.

I read a while back that the average was about 20,000 players hitting the servers a month. What are the numbers per month this year?

Well when we released Vietnam a month ago, there were about 850 players. But it has declined a bit, either by flux of new games, like Diablo 3, Battlefield, etc, or they're waiting for a new release of PR.

i think theres a decline every year around now with summer holidays coming up for schools, and already here for colleges. And students focusing on exams before they get their holiday. The adult population stays roughly the same. But i think there might be more kids than adults in the community. I use the term adult to discribe anyone over my own age (26) :D

This. Finals are coming up shortly, people are winding down, getting summer jobs...but yeah, we will trickle back eventually. Just at a low period right now, but it will get better.

Finals, Diablo III, Dayz, lack of new PR content (main PR) for a good moment.. etc.

Like any other old game playerbase will decline.

I thought a good portion of schools were already done with testing.
Anyway, I have noticed an overall decline overall the two years I've been playing. But in that time stuff like ACE for Arma 2 and Project Reality 2 have been released, so there's much more options for realistic gaming (I'd say ACE is even more realistic than PR).

The big decline for the past month or so is because during this time people are generally busy.

As a side note:

IMO if you're playing PR for absolute realism, you're probably doing it wrong. Despite the name, there's much more to it than that.

I remember when BF3 was out, there were huge decline of players.
But after some days, Guys came back, BF3 lost, PR won!

This time, PR will win again! :D

But you have to see many are on BF3 servers today? There are around 300 players on PR now.

...

Did all the reasons stated in this thread passed you by or you are unable to formulate a thought?

I'm hoping that's it, because if you're even comparing games with the utmost disregard to popularity, release date and type of fanbase, then it's best if you don't even type at all.

I'm not comparing. We where talking about what game have the most players.

I think it's the lack of Updates, Considering .95 was the last actual one that added significant changes, and that was 18 or so months ago. Whereas before .95 they had an update every 4-8 months.

PR is hard to gain fresh blood, it's hard, and not newbie friendly.(strict rules and totally not COD style.)
But once you know how to play it, understand to ture spirit. you can't escape!
I've played PR for more than 4 years, I love it and never quit, even BF3 released. :d
(I've noticed some of my friends like Silly_Savage, he never quit PR too! not to mention other guys in our community.)
Media is one important fact my friend, to be honest, not everyone knows PR, but few ppl don't know BF3.

What we have to do is be patience to those new, and make perfect video, then attract those potential players to join us!

Even if you consider that large that's still 4 months past their common timeline. Not that it bothers me, I'm just saying why I think people have tapered off.
