Tactical Gamer server going offline

It was officially announced today by Tactical Gamer's PR game officer Wicks that the server would be shut down at the end of the month. I personally find this disheartening, as I spent many hours a night playing on the server. I'm sure many agree with me that TG was one of the premier servers that played PR:BF2.

Yep, played PR for the first time there, never really played any other server after that.

Too bad, it's always sad to see a server go.

Dad news, and disheartening too.
TG is a nice server, one of my favorite.
Wish TG back online in near future.

I used to play on TG server alot before it became a ghost town. Sad to see em go. I think the pr community is losing one of the best places for teamwork and non-tarded gameplay. But hey we all had our chance. cant expect people to pay for an empty server ever month.

Yeah, he does. You can catch him from time to time on CIA. It just depends on the time of day. I haven't seen him on lately, but I haven't been on much lately (work and living the life I've missed out on the past 5 years because of the Marines) I have him on my Xfire list, so he usually harps me to join in...as always.

I'm really sad reading this. TG was one of the first servers I played on, and without doubt the best one. I do understand that they're shutting it down, though, as it has been pretty much dead for a while now, and it doesn't look like any of the old regulars are coming back.
RIP, TG - you will always be remembered <3

This is very sad, THE BEST, i repeat "THE BEST" server on PR was TG. The fact that it is shutting down almost brings tears to my eyes. I have been faithfully seeding TG practically everyday with chris and everyone else and it is sad that the servers we have now like CIA and HARDCORE are not nearly as amazing. WE need to bring back one more PW night. I am ready to get people in if we do
Btw. how much is it to maintain a server like TG a month?

Not surprised but naturally dismayed at the news, not enough people actually cared enough to help populate the server they would rather just auto-deploy to an already full server. I've had years of great games on the server and I will miss the community, but times change and so be it.

Some of the best PR rounds where made on TG. Liked the quality of server, shame that it leaves like this.

Yeah TG is gone, but it is your choice to get a server with the gameplay of the same quality. Everything is in your hands, it is our responsebility. Nuff Said.

Sad to hear this, TG was one of the best servers out there and almost always guaranteed good rounds (Although sometimes suffered from too much milsim style teamwork). Maybe revive it when 1.0 comes out?

Thank you for all the good games, TG, and rest in peace (or even better - rise again with help from a necromancer).

i basically never played on it. i did of course play on it a few times, but I avoided it due to having to pay for reserved slots and the ping was terrible, even for an american server, it was particularly terrible.
However, through it i met a bunch of cool guys, the admins were always very vigilant. But i can see this closure bringing on a big wave of "the end is near" type nonsense.
So before that happens, maybe people should retain their pessimism.
Oh and seriously, if the TG playerbase start using PRTA servers we could really refine the tactical gameplay, because the server always has admins on ready to police noobs and take constructive critisism and hear which maps people want to vote on and stuff. its not exactly the same but we are taking our realism very seriously these days.

Firstly, I don't believe this thread should be used to discuss the future or PR or the current state of it - there are many threads available to all to do that already. This thread is about the closure of Tactical Gamer and therefore the posts in this thread should closely reflect that sad fact.
Secondly, for the last five years Tactical Gamer has provided me with the means of enjoying Project Reality to its full potential, whether it be password nights or weekend games. I therefore wish to thank all those who contributed on the admin and player side - and hope they take the memories of when Tactical Gamer was popular and not let them be tarnished by the final sad few months. Truly a sad end to an era.
