Okay, I decided to get BF2

R about a week ago. I downloaded patch 1.41, then i 1.5, just as the manual said so. But when I ran BF2

R part 1, it said i didnt have 1.5 installed. I went in game and saw that I
did have 1.41 installed but in fact
didn't have 1.5 installed. I have re-downloaded and re-installed 1.5 from just about every website i could find, and the same thing has occured every single time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you are running a 32 bit operating system:
Download the file:
http://realitymodfiles.com/ancient/b...estore_x86.zip
Extract and run the .reg file(which regular file?) and press yes to merge the settings with your registry
Oh, um, i may be computer savvy, but not that computer savvy. Can you please tell me step buy step what to do? I think i have a general idea of what its telling me to do though...

Sorry about that.

Okay, so heres what I did:
1) Downloaded register files
2) Tried to extract them
3) (browsing for register)Went to my windows folder, C drive, looking for my register
4) Found two register related folders: registration and rescache
5) registration contained: CRMLog, rescache only contained rc0010 and rc0011
6) Extracted register files to CRMLog.....?
7) clicked merge, but it gave me an error message: Cannot import C:\Windows\registration\CRMLog\bf2_version_restore_x86.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry. some keys are left open by the system or other processes (I tried to extract it to BF2-2006)
I am running Windows Vista (egads!) Home Basic

Ok, you downloaded the correct x86 , 32bit .zip file.
Unzip that file.
inside the file is bf2_version_restore_x86.reg
Right click bf2_version_restore_x86.reg , select run as admin.
In UAC window, Click Allow/Yes
That should be all.

Hmm. I unzipped the file, and got bf2_version_restore_x86.reg, but when I right click it it doesn't have the Run As Administrator option

Vista... or myself, are making mistakes.
Let's try these revised directions:
Ok, you downloaded the correct x86 , 32bit .zip file.
Unzip that file.
inside the file is bf2_version_restore_x86.reg , move this file to your desktop
Go to Start menu, in the area to type in something, type in
RegEdit
In the list you will see registry editor , open it.
in registry editor in the menu bar, select File->Import
In this screen, move to your desktop and double click bf2_version_restore_x86.reg .
UAC should pop up, click Yes.
That should do it.

It gave me the same error message: do you think the problem might be that i put the .reg file in CRMLog, and since thats an essential folder, its not able to import?

You should not put anything there. Extract file to your desktop ( wherever you want it ) and just right click and select Merge. Sometimes just simple double click works with it. Answer yes when prompted and that should be all. Make sure all background applications are closed and especially anything that has to do with BF2/PR.
