"The Server has Refused the Connection"

Have been playing BF2 :P R for several months now, even earlier today. I just tried to log on about an hour after last playing, and keep getting an error message that says "The Server has Refused the Connection" when attempting to log into my account. So far I have tried turning Windows Firewall completely off, trying different internet routers, and fiddling slightly with Avast!, all to no avail. Any other suggestions?

Same problem here, and based on the mumble/TS3 chatter it is a common problem tonight. As if PB f'ing us over wasn't enough, Gamespy decided to chip in. Now PB kicks people by the boatload off our server and they can't get back on because Gamespy server is f'd up. I hate PB losing key packets, and I despise Gamespy... *end rant*

Haha shwedor, I'm in the same boat with you when it comes to PB and Gamespy. I've always gated Gamespy...it's assuring to at least know it's not a localized issue. Should I just keep trying? Will it eventually let me in, or am I just wasting my time and should try again tomorrow?

+1 instance :(

BF2 vanilla doesn't work either.

May be related, but prspy appears down as well: "Either all servers are empty (unlikely), or the data source has died."

+1 same issue. I had this happen a few years ago. I thought it was local too and did all the things listed out there as a fix.

It turns out it is GameSpy or the bf2 account servers problem. They might be updating or whatever. Maybe the pb packet loss bs will be fixed... and inturn add a few more bugs as usual.

Verizon also having power outages with a facility today- might be related.

+1 as well.

I'm glad I'm not alone. A full re-install just sounded like a bad idea.

It is probably EA'd. BF 2142 have got the same problem. Login Servers are probably down.

Seconded. Glad it wasn't a local issue. I hate technical work

Can we join servers in 1 go again now? (instead of having to try 2 times :? ).
