I don't have the mod yet but I know I'm going to get it and I was wondering because I can't find the information anywhere, are you able to pick a certain faction (I.E. The USMC/Canadian Forces or Militia/Taliban) or is it map related, random, ect. If it's possible I'd like to be able to play as my home country's faction when I'm on it's side if it's possible.

It's map related like in vBF2. So one map can feature USMC vs MEC while the other is CF vs Talibans, etc.

I believe some maps feature different factions but have to be played seperatly if that makes sense

so you can play as US Army instead of say Germans

Just a reminder:

Always teamswitching to BluFor (US army or marines in your case) is frowned upon.
Take the rounds on e.g. taliban as a chance to widen your tactical horizon.

Also, when you join a server that is currently running a map with US/USMC then the chance you will land on their team is 75% (when teams are even then the server will put you on BluFor, in this case US/USMC), so don't teamswitch, just stay on your team. Believe me, blowing everything up and doing suicidal stuff is LOADS of fun And the person that is telling you all this is the biggest CAS whore on planet Earth

Usually servers have it set up so that at each new round you get to play as the opposite team. I mean this in the way that you will play Blufor for round one, then next round you will be automatically swapped to the Redfor team (Taliban, Insurgents etc.)

As stated above - teamswitching to Blufor each round is very frowned upon and could get you kicked from the server depending on the admins and stuff.
It's fun to mix things up a bit.

there is no wiki really. Also, please dont teamswitch youll get to play the US plenty in PR.

Or temporarily go to a different server if you find that playing as an insurgent faction, on Iraqi maps especially, is the worst kind of misery in PR.

Speaking of, I believe the OP's question has been answered: Factions are related to the map, some maps have two layouts (US vs Taliban OR Canada vs Taliban, for instance), but the player cannot decide which of these variants the server admins chose to run, so it's rather irrelevant to the question at hand;

At the end of the day, when playing, there are only two factions to chose from (assuming the teams are even, otherwise switching might not be possible anyway).
