Unable to stay in full server

Recently I've noticed that I have more luck joining small 20-30 or lower servers and I am able to stay in them without any problem. When said server starts to seed though to higher 40-max I lose my connection to the server when we move on to the next map in rotation. I've tried connecting to servers near capacity and I get a message saying I need to check my network connections. BUT I am able to join one server at any time (=HOG= Muttrah/Firefly) but they aren't my favorite server to play on

. I've updated Punkbuster and made sure there wasn't any firewall interference. I have a hunch that it could just be the router (Netgear WGR614v6).
A few specs:
Win 7 64bit
AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
3 Gb ram
(As always more if needed)

If your setup is wired Modem ----> router --->PC
bypass the router to test if that is your culprit

If bypassing the router worked I'd say it is time for a new router.
Routers have a rather short lifespan. If it is over a year old it might be giving up the ghost.
Although you could try to update the router's firmware. A firmware update might breath some life back into it.
WGR614v6 <-- clicky for the netgear support page.
BUT....
That is an old B/G router. Time to upgrade to N

I do have the latest firmware version installed, any other fixes before I make an investment? If netgear declares its dead it is time to get a new one...

check places like slickdeals.net and fatwallet.com for online deals.
Buying full retail from like BestBuy or Staples is a ripoff.
You can try a Full HARD Reset of the router, google online for exact directions for your make/model.
