I guess the video will speak more than words :D

This is a very simple yet effective system :) Wind direction and strenght are fully configurable. What do you think? :D

Wow, looks real good! Would certainly add some depth to the game!

Sorry to ask even more :D , but can it be made so unguided rockets (like RPG or Hydras) would be deflected in opposite direction? From what i know about RPG, it is deflected into the wind, because it is rocket propelled. Dont know about other unguided rockets, but should be the same, as they are all based on the same principe..

Would make the life of an unguided AT guy hell, though :D

Of course :) This can be applied to any projectile

it would require diffrent code but might be possible by adding a % of speed in wind direction or something.

That also wold be possible to do, you can practically do this to every single object in the game

I assume you can only have one direction and one windspeed on a map?

Yes, and it is constant ie I doesn't change at all through the whole round (yet)

does it work with tracers?

as far as I can tell he is shooting with tracer ammunition in the video. Not sure, tho'.

yes, but does it work with mix of tracers and normal bullets? will they both land in same spot? iirc thats the problem why we have no bulletdrop

The factors that affect projectile movement are wind strenght, which is the same for all projectiles, and muzzle velocity. Tracer and non-tracer roounds land in the same spot if they are fired from the same weapon.

This woukd be awesome as a fix for tracers. Just aim the wind down, adjust for realistic g value (9.81 m/s^2) and voila you have made a quite working gravity pull for bullets. Its just it couldne be used for choppers snd stuff then

Actually I have little knowledge about the physics in the BF2 engine so if it would ever make to PR, other DEVs would have to do some tweaking :P Just wanted to show the possibility to do so

Thanks Tim!

Life is hell for the unguided AT guy already

Well its just the thing of turning wind towards the ground and add the right speed so that the bullets gravitational acceleration is aroumd 9.81. I dont know how you do the deflection but i suppose every tick the bullet gets x percent of windspeed in winddirection right?
