Fresh Bf2.exe/Md5 Mismatch

Post by BlatantlyJesus. »

Recently i have been getting MD5 Mismatch issues for bf2.exe, it happens and seemingly random times from never appearing to half an hour etc.

I understand that the best way to fix it is to reinstall PR and Bf2 but i have a maximum allowance on bandwith from my provider and cannot afford to download the 5gb needed.

i was hoping that if the issues is and only is the exe i could replace it with a 100% working one.

PLease tell us the exact version of BF2 you own.
Steam, EA Origin, Desura, Retail CD, etc.

We have MD5 checksum tools you can use to figure out what has gone bad.

Checksums found here:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ashes.html

Generally one of two things is occurring.

1. You want to try this on each of your three installation fils, it will check the file integrity.

'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1743889']you can download a md5 hash checking program.
such as md5summer from md5summer.org
you want to check the file hash (which is a unique signature of the original file on the host server, which you downloaded to your client PC), if the signature is the same, then the file has 100% integrity.
How to do so:
Install and open MD5summer.
INside md5summer, one at a time, open each PR installer files.

OPen this link: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ashes.html
compare the hashes to make sure it's the same.
Check this first. If the installation files are not corrupted, then check this.

2. Your antivirus is scanning the installaton files as they unpack and is blocking certain files. Completely turn off and shutdown your antivirus, then open the installers as an admin.

Let us know how this works.

EDIT: The installers do not have the newest BEta version of PRMumble, download it here:
'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1746864']No.

Download the PRMumble 1.0.0 Beta 4 from here:
http://realitymodfiles.com/dbzao/PR_Mum ... Beta_4.msi

Here is the FAQ and some tips and tricks after install:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ricks.html

And just remember to install PRMumble as admin. And to run PRmumble as admin and PR as admin. That solves about 85% of people's problems.

The Problem is i no longer have any of the installation files, and cannot redownload them due to my bandwidth :( . i have the retail version of BF2.

I was given a 100% working bf2.exe and not longer get the Md5 issue for that file instead its for an audio.dll im pretty sure i would have to reinstall everything to fix it was just hoping to find a fix that would avoid it :)

also i have no antivirus so nothing went wrong there

EDIT: i should add that i have had PR on my computer and working since 0.8 ish and have never had this problem feels wierd that it should become such an occurrence now

i re downloaded every installation file and torrented PR, everything has been installed correctly and all patches applied with my own CD key and its still happening so its nothing to do with the installation.

Make sure you save the installation files this time. Burn them to DVD or something.

Ok, you are telling me that you have checked the MD5Sum hash of each of the three PR 0.973 install files and everything is correct. Is this right, if so.. let's move on...

Bunch of questions:

Did you install Anders Sound mod?

If you delete or tamper with the intro movies this can happen. Have you?

If you delete or tamper with the init.con this can happen. Have you?

1. What antivirus do you use?
2. What firewall do you use?
3. Can you go to your battlefield 2/mod/pr folder and find prError.log file, open it in text editor and passte the information you see in this thread.
4. We need to know the EXACT md5 mismatch error code you are seeing.
If you play in Windowed mode you will see the pop up window telling you the code.
TO set up windowed mode:
Right click on the PR.exe, Send to Desktop(create shortcut)

Go back to your desktop, right click on the new PR shortcut, click properties.

It should look something like this:
"C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield 2\PR\PR.exe"

You need to make it look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield 2\PR\PR.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720

Notice the exact location of the quotation marks.
Notice there is a space between PR.exe" and +restart .
Must be exactly the same for this to work.

I have checked the Md5 they are all fine, i went through the whole install procedure followed by a restart played bf2 restart then ran PR still ran into the issue.

Did you install Anders Sound mod?

Nope

If you delete or tamper with the intro movies this can happen. Have you?

nope

If you delete or tamper with the init.con this can happen. Have you?

nope

1. What antivirus do you use? None, i have Malwarebytes installed although the antivirus protection is disabled
2. What firewall do you use? windows firewall

3. Can you go to your battlefield 2/mod/pr folder and find prError.log file, open it in text editor and passte the information you see in this thread.

there is no log file -_-

4. We need to know the EXACT md5 mismatch error code you are seeing.
If you play in Windowed mode you will see the pop up window telling you the code.

I will set it up and play as soon as i have a chance it can be pretty random on when it turns up.
PB tells me it is bf2.exe Len 2048 (roughly) however i used a 100% working bf2 exe and it gives me an error for another files, it was an audio dll i cant remember.

Thanks for the link psyrus ill use them when i need to unfortunately i have already tried replacing bf2.exe as shown above

EDIT: also it may be important to add i have to update PB through pbsetup no matter how many times i have reinstalled it and tried everything, the same can be said for red orchestra 2

EDIT EDIT: Also another thing to add is i can never connect to a server the first time, i get connection lost then i have to reconnect and i have no problems

Okay i managed to get the error again this time in windowed no extra popup were shown just the usual PB message got a screenshot of it so you can see exactly what i mean

After Looking into it im sure this is a problem with punk buster i have nothing but problems with it :( here is a short routine i have to go through to even get in game maybe you can see whats happening

Uninstall Punkbuster with PBSVC

Reinstall it with PBSVC

Update BF2 PB with PBSetup

Start PunkbusterB in Services

Connect to Server --> get kicked for connection lost

reconnect to server (at this point had i not did the first 3 steps i would be kicked for Packet loss, the 4th step stops me from being kicked for heartbeats)

Play for roughly half an hour untill kicked for MD5 mismatch seen above

After that i can see that there is no trace of Punkbuster B on my computer it has simply been deleted like it was never installed, punkbuster A is still running.

Repeat process to play again.

GO read this thread,
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... -loss.html

download the Process Lasso and automate the starting of PunkbusterB, also give punkbusterA and punkbusterB HIGH PRIORITY.

It's a duct tape solution but should get you up and running.

I get kicked for ''MD5_tool mismatch prserverarchives...-''? I do have soundmod on, but this kick also occours in servers supporting soundmod? Like PRTA. But I don't remember this kick happening in vBIOS, CIA, and ]H[. Whats up with this, this kick should only be connected to playing in servers that doesn' support soundmod, with soundmod on. Can someone help me, is there a fix to this issue?

BlatantlyJesus,

I've had a long weeks, I have to start over helping you,

1. Are you running under a Windows Admin Account?
2. Are you running PBSVC and Punkbuster as an admin?
3. Did you change the read/write access level on your hard drives?
4. You should try this: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... -loss.html

Could you please clarify this. I have two serverarchives in my pr-folder, both of them have same name, other is CON-file and the second ORIG-BAK-file. I can rename them, but how I can change the filetype itself? And do I need both of these files or just one?

Here is a copy of my file,
simply rename your file to anything you can remember, prserverarchives.con.bak2 , etc. It doesn't really matter what file extenesion you add at the end as long as it is not .con .

Download this, copy it to your Battlefield 2\mods\pr folder.

I tried to change the file type, but then I got CTD when map had just loaded. Then I retained the file type as .con and removed the whole soundmod, and I still keep getting the md5_tool kick.

What the heck? When I change the file type to .bak, the game crashes as I stated. When its .con, I can get to server but I get the md5_tool kick. Whats up with this, is there a certain file type it should be, because .bak doesn't work either.
