Docwaggon, I'm sorry, but my diagnosis is your PC has only 3 to 4 months left to live.

( I'm assuming we're still working on the Windows Restore Point from BEFORE you installed mumble 1.2.3.x )

-does pr_mumble need pr installed to work ? NO.
-does pr_mumble need voip activated in bf2 ? NO.
-if voip in bf2 has to be activated is it wise to assign a ptt key ? Not Applicable.
-in bf2 my mic test fails and i can not activate mic boost but voip works in game with mic and headset . THIS IS INTERESTING, and I suspect is part of the problem.

Let's start with the hardware issue,
simply stated, I know nothing about your audio card. It is an older model of audio card and TerraTec was barely distributed in the US, I've seen one Terratec audio card in my life.

I'd try to disable your soundcard,
plug your mic and headphones into onboard audio jacks,
reboot,
In BIOS on boot, enable your onboard audio
assign onboard audio as default device in Windows Audio Mixers (input and output)
test PRmumble.
test BF2 or PR in game VOIP.
test mic boost in Audio options.

EDIT: A bit of google searching shows that your TerraTec has NO Mic Boost, and others have had similar problems. Page is in French: Augmenter le son de son micro. | CommentCaMarche

Uncheck exclusive control, that will give the newest program (PR.exe) exclusive control over microphone,

i checked the onboard soundcard and it is disabled in bios, win7 does not know it.

In Computer Management, -> Device Manager, ->
1. Try to disable onboard audio
Reboot, test PR PTT

If that doesn't work,

2. Try to completely uninstall onboard audio drivers,
Reboot, test PR PTT

I've read the thread three times now from OP to the last post, and I can't figure it out... what's the problem here?

All I can gather is that the OP is confused why he can't switch between PTT and voice activation... when the devs specifically disabled voice activation to begin with.

To put it shortly: There is no voice activation in PR mumble 1.0
