G 36 Reflex sights

Hello everybody!
Something that annoys me on the G 36 is the bad reflex sighs. The weapon blocks 20% of youre view and why is that?. The PR German soldier just uses it wrong! He closes one eye.
I am working with my G 36 alot and the first thing you learn before you shoot for the first time is to keep BOTH eyes open while shooting with the Reflex sights. I am not sure if all Reflex sights are meant to be used this way but the G 36 definitely is.
It works extremly well, what you do is aim with your right eye (seeing the red dot and the weapon) and look at your target with the left eye meaning your left eyes view isnt blocked by your weapon.
The Brain does the rest, making you see everything clear with a ghost picture of your weapon (try to hold something in front of one eye and look at a point on the wall to see the effect) and you could translate the picture you get in RL to a transparent G 36 ingame.
So Question is, is it possible and/or practical to make the G 36 go transparent in aim mode? Or are there other options? To give you an idea what i think it should look like: here are 2 pictures.

this is a pretty cool idea. ideally only the right side of it should be transparent. really dont know if the engine can actually do this or not.

but rather make it blurry like the surroundings of the other reflex sights.

Somebody suggested it some time ago, but DEVs decided to not include it, because it would look a bit odd, and 3d person view would be also transparent.

Well as far as i know, both, the red dot and magnified optics are quite small.
I guess it might be easier if the red dot sight was replaced with the additional RDS used for example in BW Mod for Arma 2.
(Will try to add the picture soon.)

Would look really weird and you'd have a lot of people coming and saying it's a bug.
The v1.0 BUIS system should balance things out.

As far as I know there are 2 different weapon models. The 1P and 3P view of the same weapon are differnt (for example in 3P view the gun is lowerd while in 1P view you still have it ready)
Also as i said I am working with the G 36 in RL and the tiny red dot isnt a problem because of the way you use it (both eyes open) In Afghanistan many G 36 have a Zeiss red dot (the one on the MEC and German G3) so we could also use that one.
But I think the problem would stay with the weapon blocking the view (its not that bad with the Zeiss scope)

This is clearly a suggestion. Since I'm inclined to agree with the OP, however, I'll just move it and leave it open.
My opinion: All iron/reflex sights should be transparent (only a little bit, like in the picture in the original post), for this very reason. You can use them with both eyes open and that would make a lot of the less functional ingame ironsights and reflex sights work properly. I'd not include it for scopes due to the obvious problems when zoom comes into play.
I fear that it's probably hardcoded, though, and I can see that we wouldn't want 1st person weapons to be constantly transparent.

I thought you needed to have one eye closed to use irons, or my eyes are weird and can't do it.

I am just gonna wait for someone to start making suggestions to implement the ghostbuster kit along with full Bill Murray voiceovers

I am certain this has been suggested before but I really like the idea. Would also give reflex sights an edge over standard ironsights like IRL.

It is just that bad IRL... working as intended.
Or we can have every red dot sight be slightly transparent.

It isnt bad IRL (i thougt i said so 2 times allready)
I am shooting with it since 2009 and every 12 year old punk could use it because its so easy (also the weapon itself is really user friendly)
And chriswep is right its not a good idea using ironsights with both eyes open.
I dont think it would be hard to implement ingame (simply make the 1P model transparent)
but i know nothing about modding so i am waiting for someone who knows about such stuff.

I think putting the zeiss Reflex in as an alternative to the "standard" back-up reflex would be a better idea, and actually give us a reason to have two separate G36 rifles in game, since the BUIS system most likely going into v1.0 will negate the need for separate reflex and scope G36's
Yay post #1!

I always shoot with both eyes open. Why the hell would I sacrifice 50% of my viewing field? You just have to practice.
Anyways, I do agree with OP, CQB optics for G36 suck, but unfortunately that's how they were designed. And unfortunately I don't see the 'feedback', a.k.a. suggestion, being do able due to the engine. Great idea though.

I think BF2 does not supports transparency.

Could any Dev or Con enlighten us regarding the possibilities that the engine actually would offer?
As for shooting with both eyes open when using ironsights: User preference. It's easily possible as far as I can judge from experience with prop weapons / airsoft. (They don't shoot, but the sights are perfectly realistic and I can move around and aim at things with both eyes open, so that, to me, proves that it's possible. Easier with an aimpoint, though, since it's much easier to "line up" the red dot with a target than the front sight, rear sight, and target.)

It does.
As for the suggestion, making the sight transparent is not really a proper solution to the problem and just feels really unintuitive.

While the suggestion is possible, it will no doubt need more RAM to do this, and then we may need to sacrifice something like the spec map. Also the transition between non-scoped to scoped would be really odd... Also not sure if we can have you scoping into 3 different lods on a 1p weapon like the G36 would need and what you would need to only have this happen when you scope into the reflex sight.
And as Tim said, I don't think its a good solution either for the same reasons and also will be more of a distraction than an aid.
All in all, think something like this would do much more harm than good.

I think the sope=blur everything else=no blur is a completely OK option. G36 does suffer from the big sights though.
