I get this error on vanilla bf2 and bf2 r. It simply says "Your connection to the server has been lost". I get this trying to connect to a server (on second attempt in getting in server i connect), and when im in a game I DC and get the error, I reinstalled BF2, and PR several times, and updated PB and still no luck. Any help?
I also went to Control Panel -> System and Security -> Admin. Tools -> Services. Then find Punkbuster A and clicked properties, then went to Recovery tab and switched all 3 menus to restart.

P.S. When I get in game, less than 10-30 minutes later I DC with the error

The random 'connection to server lost' while playing may or may not be the same problem as the 1st connnection attempt failure, but both are discussed in that thread.

Did they ever get back to you about the new update?

not since the last update on the 18th.

Edit: I just deleted my PB folder, and I am reinstalling it.

Anyone else have anything?

Give us specifics on your PC.
Give us specifics on your network in your house.
What ISP are you using?

Having lived in FL, my first response is, Ma Bell.
Second is a joke, why you expect to not having a lightning strike every 30 minutes?
Third is, need you to give us more info to diagnose this.
