TV and Laser Guided munitions

BF2 has these backwards, if you haven't noticed. Attack Helicopters are loaded with TV-Guided missiles, I don't know if these even exist. However Hellfire missiles, the apropriate weapon for a modern attack helicopter, is laser guided from the POV of the source via the instrument on the nose. This type of guidence is depicted in the weaponry used by the SU, and most likely the F15E as well.

However the TV-Guided missiles should be turned into bombs dropped from those planes. And the helicopters should in turn use the laser guided missiles. Even if it were tows, they would use the same game mechanic as the laser guided weapons.

I know that China use some T.V guided missiles, and I thought the Zulu missiles on the Cobra were T.V Guided as well. Fire & Forget weapons, don't really require much skill to use, it's just fire , bang, dead. Meaning any idiot can use them, as opposed to the existing T.V weapons in game, which require a level of skill to use.

Yes but a map isnt 8 miles across in scale probably so its 'great fun' to get snipered by hellfires across a map! EA didnt create some things realistically for a reason other than being inaccurate!

well maby on of the plains could be armed with a LGB, and one of the solders could be armed with a lazer designation wepon, could have sworn that i saw that in one of the game demonstration fillms that EA put out a while back. the bomb could be like a one shot wepon befor you have to go and re-arm to make the game still playabel with them, all thou that would be a sacrifice of reality

the laser designation was unfortunately taken out of BF2 but the devs have said that if they can put them in PR they will

I like the idea of it. Its alot more complicated then just shooting. Someone with a laser designator has to hold it on the target for some time before the Apache can get the signal and fire. Plus the Apache will have to deal with Anti-Air and possibly other Aircraft.
We could use the Kiowa for what is was designed to do IRL, designate targets for Apaches or any chopper eqiupped with Hellfires.

Use Kiowa or ground spotters, either way, we definetely need laser designation in.

Yeah, that would be pretty ace to have a Kiowa warrior in, or give special forces guys a laser designator.

A question for all: With the radar dome on the Apache Longbow, can it engage targets on its own with the Hellfires?
Do you mean in-game or in real-life? In real-life, both the Apache and Longbow Apache can engage targets on their own with Hellfire laser-guided missiles, or they can use ground or handoff designation from the Kiowa Warrior. The Longbow Apache can also use the newer Hellfire II (AGM-114K) in the millimeter-wave radar guided mode.

Then whats the point of designations from Kiowa's or Infantry? Does it make it faster? Easier? Or is it just for helping the Inf on specific targets?
It allows the Apache to minimize its exposure to enemy fire by unmasking, firing the missiles, and masking again.

it allows the chopper to 'handoff' if you will the lasing responsibility to another unit, be it the kiowas or infantry.
