Hi guys,

Please help me, I can't run Battlefield 2 / Project Reality on Windows 8. I launch the game(s), the screen goes black, then it returns to my desktop. I don't know what to do: I've tried to put on a compatibility mode on Windows XP (Service Pack 2) but it still isn't working.

Any suggestions?

I'm tired of Battlefield 3 and want to join the PR family!

Check to see if you're drivers are up to date. I have windows 8 on my new laptop and its not giving me any problems.

Punkbuster doesn't support Windows 8 anyway, so you won't be able to play online once you get it running.

My graphics card is up to date, and so is Punkbuster, and it still isn't working.

I think Google is your best friend on this one...

Dude it really isn't, search in "Battlefield 2 Windows 8", there is absolutely nothing at all.

I dont think so, so shortly after the Windows 8 launch.
I will install Windows 8 first, when Punkbuster is W8 compatible.
So keep us please informed when it works.

What I meant with that, is that hardly anyone here tried out Windows 8 with PR. Google is your best friend as in, you'll get more luck searching there.

I still have no luck. I heard a few members at this community have been playing the game fine with Windows 8 so that's why I'm posting here.

Perhaps on local, don't know. But online play won't be possible until punkbuster gets updated.

Like I said dude, I can't even get onto the game, it just fades to black then I return to desktop.

WOW GUYS,

After a week of searching day and night, it was nothing to do with WINDOWS 8, it all came down to me tweaking stupid shit in my Nvidia Graphics Control Panel so I just reset to default and I'm playing!!!!!!

The PID kick still happens though. I can't stay even get into a squad before I get kicked from the server.

Download and install if u have issues with PB on win8. Might make everything work again.

Or it might not.

Man, i've had the same problem, I also have windows 8 and the game was playing but the screen was all black, all what I did was set the game to play in a lower quality, then the screen went on well...

Same issue over here. Note still on warranty so can't downgrade :/

i ahve the same problem playing on windows 8.1. somewhere i read that it light be BF2.exe that isnt working correctly. noot prbf2.exe because i get the normal 'cleaning up resources' message at the end of the black screen
