Do you mean to host for the general community and to have 64 players?

Or rather do you just want to screw around?

I meant what I will need before applying for a license, I'm talking about the servers itself and everything that will be need for the server. I'm not ready yet to apply for a license.

Most importantly, I suppose, a player base? Admins?

Well I don't have any admins right now but that's only for the moment, for the player base part, I don't have any really.

Where do you want the server to be hosted?

Somewhere in North America, United States or Canada should be fine. I'm from Canada so yeah.

Another option would be to get involved in contributing with one of the current servers in the region - save them some bucks, and give you experience?

TBH, I don't think the team should accept servers anymore.

Take a look at PR Spy, we have enough servers to hold up to 2000 people and maybe more, but only 184 people is playing now, commonly on peak times the player amount is like 350, but there is like 50 servers with no purpose than promote a clan that nobody enters.

The thing is, the servers that are up are right now have either poor maps selection or abusive admins which isn't appealing for me to get involved or make me play in these servers. Plus, It's not like I'm looking to be hosting 3-4 deployment servers like other clans do.

I'm no expert but you would need to get access to a dedicated box that can host a 64 person BF2 server. There are a number of companies that do this (just google).

Once the BF2 server files are installed you need to apply for and receive a license (Despite what was said above, as long as you can show you are a responsible person you should get approved for this, regardless of the discrepancy between player base and available servers we have currently).

Finally its just a matter of getting together the admins to administer the server, and organizing a simple script base for them to use.

Best answer I've got so far, thank you.

I still need some information here, how much would it approximatively cost per month to host two 64 players PR servers? Is there any step-by-step guide on how to setup a PR server?

again, where you find players? All servers have the intention to pick good maps and have good gameplay. No server owner is like' I want to give them a bad experience'. With the current player count I think it's better to put your time in into getting involved with another server(example HOG: still looking for admins!). You have good intentions, but where will you get 64 people? The idea of 'if my server is good, players will join' is not a good one right now, with 300 players online you are not gonna get anyone on your server.

If you still consider wasting money and time on this then you have two options:

Rent a PR server (for example alpha networks) or get yourself a dedicated box on which you can do what you want (host servers of multiple games and functions). The price ranges of those are from very cheap to very expensive. I can't give you numbers as you are from a different continent :)

Estimate $0.79/slot (per month) (source Game Servers : Server Hosting & Rental)

You'll also need a forum / website for your players/community and possibly at TS channel - just more costs to consider.

But keep in mind this is not V:BF2 - many game server hosts won't give you RDP access to manage the server as effectively as you need to (e.g; install teh AD Framework) - at best they will install the mod for you and give you BF2CC access to manage bans/map rotations etc.) = not ideal.
