Shijia Valley feedback

Couldn't find a thread specifically on Shijia so..

Other than being almost a perfect map I have one thing that annoys me:

Two flags for the city at once. It makes the battle lose so much momentum and for a 4km map the flags are really close to each other. This means that squads can "pass" each other in the city greying out each others flags, and then go back to recap and so on.. Really don't like it from a gameplay perspective.

EDIT: I might add that it isn't exactly boring to fight/play in the city, it's just that this map has so many other cool places that you like to fight in.

Just wanted to say I almost always have epic rounds on this map, it is by far one of the most beautifully detailed maps, especially the city and old town!

I found the two city flag system to be enjoyable, it made you really spend a lot of time in the city, which is what I figure the mapper wanted, and you really get an amazing feeling going from the wide open streets of the city to the small alleyways of old town.

I really just love this map when played well by both sides, even when I lose, good work :)

yesterday, we had very intense and interesting firefights at the airport, ALT layer.

It is one of the best areas in shiya, for defend and attack scenarios!

everytime i play this map, it works for about 10 minutes than CTDs. im assuming its a RAM problem with my pc (2 gigs on vista-32) my question is, since the devs will be doing what they can to optimize PR 1.0, would this be a map that needs alot of optimization or is it safe to say i wont be able to play this map until i have a new pc? i also get the same CTD on burning sands. everytime, 10 minutes in or so. anyone else getting this? and are there any quickfixes/workarounds people know about?

I've actually been saying this for a long time but I absolutely love Shijia City. The apartment and old city statics are probably the nicest looking statics IMO. Or maybe I'm just nostalgic, either way kudos to the mapper.

We have done more optimizing on the map, but it is a detailed map so having more than 2GB would be a huge help.

Really nice terrain nicely detailed with special "atmosphere".
I would like to see less heavy assets like tanks and apaches and more medium assets like 30mm apc or some small attach choopers with hydras or 30 mm cannons but brits have lack of those kind of air assets :(
It's funny you mentioned this. For v1.0 I wanted to put in small attack choppers but the Brits don't have an equivalent right now in PR so we couldn't really make it work. As for APCs, the ALT layer is APCs and transport helos only so give that a try.

Thanks Shaun :)

Make it asymmetrically balanced, it's way more interesting than both sides having equivalents.

thanks AF, although my understanding is that vista 32 cant use anymore than 3 gigs of ram in bf2.
