Change can be good

I just want to point out what I noticed yesterday after the release of the new patch that enabled servers to run all the mini PR mods without restarting the servers.
Later at the evening/night GMT+0 some servers (no names mentioned) switched there map to Muttrah in an attempt to repopulate there servers but instead the general players left Muttrah and went for other servers running the new maps.
Those new maps might be buggy and rather unpolished....but still I think that the Community showed that they are more willing to try new maps that require new tactics than to replay old maps for the 110th time.
I hope this trend of giving the new maps a chance will continue as long as possible and that admins will not fall into the old track that sends many people into zombie mode. Remember if the community dosent play the new maps and report bugs they will never be fixed and the time spent by the developers will be in vain..... so far they work for free so it is the least we can do as a community.
just my 2 cents

Ya seriously how many times can one play Kashan Desert before getting kinda bored. I really liked the Vietnam maps but I haven't played Normandy or Falklands

Agreed 100%. There are over 30 other maps around. Muttrah, Kashan and Fallujah aren't PR's only gems.

Since it was released, i believe it would average atleast once per gaming session. I bare with it like its a cancer that will get me one time but isnt critical atm.

My -32.8 cents (adjusted for inflation)
Map vote. Overwhelmingly map A wins. Server empties out because of piss rage over map selected. Server crashes, starts default map. Map vote. 30 to 11 for map B wins. Admin say's too close to call (?). New vote, Map C wins. Admin does not like C. New vote. Map D wins. Server crashes. Default map (oh fun). Server empties out. Find another server, all full. Finally get in one. Hop in "INF MUMBLE" squad. No one talks on mumble. Forget it. Go drink more scotch and go to bed.

I just thought of something. Do you need a physical server to host a game online?

I am thinking of a certain server that hardly (if ever) puts up Falklands in the map vote even when so many players want to play it. (Such an amazing minimod, new animations, sounds, devation settings - I'm hooked). Although in general most servers are now playing the new minimods as it is what the players want, which in turn fills the server. (For the first time in months I saw 3 full NA servers).

Ye every time I see a server running one of the Falklands mods, its full to almost full, but for some reason they are not coming up anything like as much as PR:V or PR:N
23rd Dec 2012 10:46am PRT
24th Dec 2012 5:47am PRT

+ a bunch of other times I haven't taking SSs.
I would really like if servers did run them more as I haven't managed to get a full round of PR:F other than on VW, which even PRTA managed to 100% fill their server with just running the PR:F VW layer, got a bit cramped on the carrier

Honestly Falklands and Operation Overlord are too slow and boring unless you have over 150 players. But im not really into the whole bigger is better thing so im kind of biased. ideal server settings for me are between 80-90 players on a 4km map. Anything more is either too empty, or too compact.

So why is Goose Green (2km map) not getting played much either then?
Also its a massive misconception people have that the Falklands is actually got much more spread out combat, it doesn't. Its ground combat area is focused into 3km by 2km area, which is about the same as most 4km maps and in all, it has less vehicles on the map (even thou it has a shit load of jets) than a normal 4km map and has far more Infantry on a full 64 player server. However there is a lot more walking, which dose make it feel bigger but that is mainly IMO because players haven't yet learnt how to use the Choppers on this map

Rhino your map is fine. And so is goose green. Let PRTA finish its security issues and we will start up our server again with Falklands and Goose Green.

Jelzin in my case...
Anyway, release of 0.98 really got me back to PR, even though I never can fully enjoy Vietnam because it reminds me of my days in CoD, the times when I left the server for running Vietnam map are gone. If Vietnam strikes the server I can live through it because most of the players stay and I don't have to care about some patches, nor mini-mods. PR Normady is simply awesome and Falklands never made it to my favorites, maybe I simply haven't played them enough to find that kind of passion to replay them, still though interesting minimod (especialy with the newest release, where we finally have Argetina).
All in all, I am glad we can now play Beirut, Muttrah, Op.Overlord, Dien Duong and other on one server at any time.
My thanks to you DEVs for all your hard work!
(And now release 1.0!!!

)
