Can there be some sort of staging area icon, an Icon the commander can mark an area with, where squads are to rally before they attack? I think it would be more effective than a waypoint marker as in less ignored.

I don't see why not, but don't know the python code very well.

Any ideas what the icon should look like?

A circle with AA in the center for Assembly Area?

Ye, might work, but keeping in mind that the icon needs to 32x32px it might not really fit in that space.

Also AA sounds more like Anti-Aircraft

Would a flag maybe work? How about changing the color of an existing marker?

Most of the times, commanders just use waypoint icons.

Ye, if we are going to do this, it needs to be an icon that is super obvious its for this, otherwise there is no real point of having it over just using a waypoint marker.

speaking of commander markers, could the recharge be accelerated a bit, often I wont have a marker to make for something, it makes the commander less useful than it really ought to be.

I don't believe so, pretty sure it was hard coded into BF2 v1.5 to stop the vehicle drop hack spam hackers use to do in vBF2 where they would make the sky rain jeeps:

Hey I agree, the marker would make it alot easier to organize sqds than the waypoint one so I made these Colors can be changed I just picked random ones to fill it in

I was thinking of a flag also when the notion of an icon for this was thought.
