I see Arma2 is on sale on STEAM right now, and I played it a while ago and it seemed pretty cool. A little confusing on the controls but I enjoyed it. I never played PR for it though. I'm a HUGE fan of BF2PR and I've just always wondered which version has more players/servers on constantly.

i prefer the arma version, it's just a shame there so few players at the moment

Arma version is better , so you should buy it . You get features like : no deviation , realistic penetration , you can kill incapacitated people and many more . The problem is that you don't get a lot of maps and you will only play missions in Chernarus and Takistan , but the good news are that in the next few months we will get a new map that looks awsome .
So long story short : get it , it's great.

PR:BF2 all the way.

Project Reality BF2 no contest for me. It is so stream line and fluent. I like Arma 2 ACE, and map editing. But I think, PR BF2 is on its way to divine perfection which Arma (ACE and PR) hasn't even scratched.

At the moment PR:BF2 > PR:ArmA2.

ArmA2 is not worth buying exclusively to play PR right now and I honestly don't think will be for some time.

ArmA2 is worth buying just to play ArmA2 (with the ACE mod, of course).

I would also not buy BF2 for PR right now. If I were you, I'd wait for PRv1.0 to come out and buy it then, because you're going to be playing a much better mod.

Theres no reason to compare. Pretty much anything is better than arma2.

It's xmas.... treat yourself and get them both...

They are different.. no real point in comparing them imo.

don't bother if you only intend to get arma 2 for project reality. Its not worth it, nobody plays it and it doesn't seem maintained anymore.

Do you mean adminned or developed? It's definitely still being developed, but I can't attest to the admins on the [1?] server(s) that still run it.

As for now, 0.15 [beta] is seemingly pretty much dead in the water. Hopefully future, non [beta] versions will revitalize the community. I intend to try PR:ARMA2 when the next version is released and I've got my proper computer together.

ARMA2 with ACE+ACRE is where its at. Until 1.0 comes out,then the tide turns.

I have arma but just haven't installed Arma PR because one it's low populated (maybe even an overstatement) and second my laptop runs is just not that strong enough.

With the caveat that I've only played a very limited amount of PR:A2, and that its difficult to judge something so early in development, I don't really like PR:A2 or where it seems to be headed. "Project Reality" is in many ways a misnomer and for a lot of people the realism is secondary to the unique teamplay.

Ironically PR:A2 may be true to the name, but false to the spirit of the mod. I don't see the "balance between gameplay and realism", I see a lot of talk about realism for realisms sake. Maybe that's how it needs to be because its built on Arma 2, but I can't see it being the future of PR for that reason.

BF2 is more complete(near 1.0 so it is obvious).

Arma 2 version is still in the making; of course engine limitation is a lot less severe and end product will be better...but BF2 is a $10 game made very many years ago.

No reason to compare one almost complete(but never will be) mod and a mod that is still very much work-in-progress.

Right now, Battlefield 2 version is much better due to all the variety of stuff(and I am sure 128 player per server is easier to do on BF2 than Arma2).

I really like arma 2 pr over bf2, but the lack of players and complexity really becomes tiresome sometimes, so I go and play something like prbf2 to relax, its good to have?em both.

He said more complete. You know, further along the winding path towards completion. Do you disagree with that sentiment given the two mods as they currently stand?

Well there is this problem with PR in these 2 games.

We have PR:BF2 and A2 R.

Arma 2 has better mod for realism at this time - ACE mod. I am not trying to discourage anyone to play Arma 2 PR but it really is now only on its way up to the high standard of PR mod. We will have to wait probably few years (or hopefully months) to see PR:A2 instead of A2 R.

Not really worth it buying Arma 2 only for PR now, what a pity...
