As you know a big problem in the editor is to make a terrain realistic....yes we can all do hills and valleys but by using this neat program and the tutorial above you can bring in some realistic terrain into your map, i know myself and a few of the other devs use this and there is also a good tutorial on the bf2 editor forums, as well as good terragen tutoritals on the terragen website.
Also i know a few of you have tried it and gave up, stick with it
Here is and image i knocked up in a few hours, and with a bit of tweaking it would be very easy to import into game

i made 6 maps using Terragen, i must say i am dissapointed...i cant get my "Cliffs" to look like "cliffs" ..... but it's good for making realistic mountines and what not, its just that you cant get them to look like the way you want it to look.

you need to use the sculpt tool and like any program it takes lots of practise, I use different settings all the time, also when you finally get it in game you still need to level areas off for buildings etc... but this give you a good starting block.

photoshop is what good mappers use to make there basic terrain fast. I find terrain gen and thous other gen tools never come out how you want it to.

tpaint is a very good tool to save time. if you know how it works you can use it in excatly the right way. then from there you can hand paint over the top if it
i mean, look at OGT, would you think i used Tpaint on that?
