PR is the only game i play for 4+ yrs now ( i think...lost count). It saddens me that the people have moved away from it, and it freaks me out because there is really no other game that i have seen that would interest me.
Last patch was breath of fresh air, and I hope that 1.0 will come along very soon to build up on the momentum.

Couple of months back, my clan was in turmoil as to how many still play PR, should we run server or not, how to attract people, etc...and there was a interesting suggestion made by one of my clan-mates (=]H[= CW3_HALL). I'm gonna paste it here as i think that it is a good suggestion to bring more people to PR. Please read it, do it, think about other ways that can bring us more bodies.

Please note, there are some areas that may cause some to troll. I could have deleted/omitted those parts but choose not to.
I am posting this in order to attract more people to a game i love, and i really do not care about what you think about my clan. Everyone is entitled to opinion and i am entitled not to care about it

As some of you may have noticed, we don't have as many people playing PR as we used to. Maybe it's the updates, maybe it's the graphics.

That doesn't matter, because it takes a special gamer to APPRECIATE what PR is at the core; a squad based tactical game with high realism.

I have a plan to spread the word and try to get as many people as possible into this game. Let's get some new players to populate our servers and make it like it used to be when PR was the most played mod anywhere.

Don't you miss that?

Here's what you do:

1. Make a reddit.com account if you haven't already.

2. Go to this link Has anyone here heard of Project Reality BF2 Mod? : gaming and UPVOTE it. Upvoting causes it to be seen by more people.

3. Leave a comment in the thread and/or post a video or just say how awesome PR is and why you love it. This step is crucial for traffic and follow up conversation. Play dumb and pretend you've never heard of it so others will post links. The idea is to get a conversation going.

4. If you have the time, make a post of your own about PR for visibility sakes.

5. More players means more fun for YOU. We may have to repeat this process a few times in order for this to work, amd of you have an idea of how to get PR more popular, please PM me.

PR does not attract new players until new PR:A2 or PR2 are released. Release of 1,0 will mostly get some old PR veterans playing again.

PR does not attract mainstream gamers because bf2 engine is so outdated. Some of them might try if it did not have its graphics and limitations.

PR does not attract people that want to play hardcore millitary simulations. They buy Arma 2, download ACE and ACRE and join some clan where most of the members are ex-soldiers.

I think that much of PR`s potential is in the PR:A2 and that is where the dev team should focuse.

Edit: The way of getting players that is described in the first post is excellent way of filling PR with COD noobs who will play the game for a week until they get frustrated and quit.

I disagree Tarranauha that new players are not interested in PR, if you look round the forums you see new players popping in all the time let alone the ones who don't post. I agree PR dosen't have the same appeal it once did because its now somewhat old, but its not past the point where it can't attract new players by a long shot. We have so much unique content in the mod that anyone just looking at videos etc on youtube will get interested and play it.

While I agree, v1.0 will mainly be old players returning, I do expect many new players also to give it a go.

This is also not to mention that PR is growing significantly in China, South America etc.

remember when you first started.......

there are new people coming to the game. How they heard about it...i don't know, but I do know that this is a very hard game on the first try and how you, as a PR veteran, interact with that new person will determine if that new guy will give it another try or give up.

All i'm saying , if you like PR, help out a bit. Utilize social media to attract new people. If you don't play it, and you gave up...don't bother replying.

Proper public relations and media will attract new players. Just have to go out with a bang. Thats up to the team.

I do have some promotional skills in terms of psychology , less in picture editing and even less in video making. I am some sort of a pitcher.

This game is like no other. I purchased BF3 and I think it sucks. It looks great but there is no point to it as everyone just does their own thing. Most of the time you are running from flag to flag alone. Why they took out large squads and voip is a mystery to me.

Arma2 looks great too but I find it somewhat boring. Teamwork is fun but the bot killing is lame. I like PvP.
I tried PR ArmA and it just did not compare to PR BF2.

I still play them both occacionally but nothing compares to the teamwork and fun of each round in PR.
If more people knew about this game, it would be very popular. But sadly consoles and COD kids are pushing game companies to meet their needs and PR gamers like us are left wanting more from their gaming experience. PR, even on an outdated engine, is still the best game I have ever played. Not because of looks, but the overall package. Thanks again devs

BlackSand should talk to EA/DICE about putting BF2 on sale for 75% off when 1.0 is released. That should entice a few more people if they don't have to shell out for what in their eyes is an old mod for an old game.

It worked for DayZ and Arma 2 after all.

Most of the players who want this kind of gameplay already play this or ARMA so I dont think there would be very much new players even with advertising.

PR is marketed as a realism/ tactical/ teamwork game, but right now we have stuff in servers that in my opinion turn new players away because its the opposite of what PR is marketed as. (ex. Mumble spam, ramming trans choppers into tanks, ramming in general, lone wolves)

I know what you mean, BF3 is just an average run of the mill one man army fps shooter. Arma2 is nice but clunky most of the time. PR is just a perfect blend of realism and squad based action.

I ask you; OFP/ArmA franchise has been around longer than PR afaik, why didnt everybody just started/stayed there in the first place?

Players who want arma gameplay go to arma, such as myself, and players who want PR gameplay go to PR. Proper advertising "sells" even shit if youre good.

I've been playing PR since .8 and will continue to do so until BF2 finally goes down; on the other hand I play ARMA2 ACE+ACRE on the United Operations server alot. I love both games, but they are two different things that shouldn't be compared to each other.

I installed PR last week and I'm mad at myself for not trying this years ago.

Anyways, I got to PR while looking for old OFP videos, which I'm playing occasionally in the barracks with my almost three year old laptop. The unique features shown in some of the videos convinced me to install BF2 again.

You can buy BF2 for less than $10 now. I don't think they can go any lower.

Battlefield 2 [PC Game]

i think servers & player #s are fine for now.... i for the most part only play mumble required servers and that kick people if they dont use it. i occasionally go into HOG when CIA is full. really like both servers but i prefer the teamwork, fun experience and people i find at cia. i might worry when these quality servers cant stay full at 100 players.

and as for H, everything that happened to you guys, you did to yourself. mumble came along and improved game-play and teamwork, yall didn't adapt and fell by the wayside with the core teamwork players. i used to be yall's biggest fans pre-mumble but yall didn't adapt and i many others obviously moved on for the better experiences at mumble required servers.

i hold no allegiance to any server or group of players. i am a selfish gamer that goes where the best experiences take me....and that was my observation

as for getting new players to join pr, well its tough. consoles are cheaper and more mainstream and in this adhd society it can be hard for some to play because matches can take up to an hour and if that experience isnt a good experience then it was an hour wasted while COD or BF3 can give you many highs and lows in that same hour. and alot of people just dont have the time to dedicate to this game....it requires alot from its players...more than most games anyways.

What do you mean by fine for now? The servers don't kick players if they don't use it, they kick players if they aren't running it. Communication is fucking shit these days, so is the gameplay in general because the level of the community has gone from good to awful.

We need a server that's passworded, and the password will only be given out to the minority of the community who's actually not shit at this mod. Surely this won't include the whole community, but who gives a damn? The competent PR players should be allowed to play PR without being disrupted by players ruining their game.

Mil-simmers thinking they actually know what they're doing just because they're following the chain of command and are using realistic comms. Stubborn 35 year olds not wanting to listen to people 15 years younger than them, even though they know this mod so much better than them.

I am seriously starting to get fed up by the shit players coming to play this mod, only to ruin it.

well i haven't been experiencing that, that much. and by "fine", i mean i am happy with the way things are....i am having fun, though i lead most of the time....and my squad does what i want to do or they get the boot...from my sqd at least.....i am a selfish gamer....
