Hi all,

Used to play PR years ago but just a comp thats good enough to run it again. Hurray!
Have download PR and just bought BF2 Complete Collection from Origin.
Also downloaded patches 1.41 and 1.5 for BF but when I start the install them it says "Cannot find install folder for Battlefield 2(TM)"?
I have win 7 and the files are located at C:/Program Files (x86)/Origin Games/Battlefield 2 Complete Collection/
So far I have tried:
Copying patches to install folder
Copying BF2 install to C:/Program Files /EA Games/Battlefield 2(TM)
No luck so far...

Any suggestions how to progress?

Really keen to get back on PR; it's looking amazing! Stoked to see so many people online.

FIXED IT!

Simply put, the Origin installer did not add a registry entry pointing Windows to the installation directory for BF2.
We have a fix for this:

Can't find install folder for Battlefield 2 (Credits: Leki)
This is caused by a problem with a registry entry, which contains the location of your Battlefield 2 installation.

1. Go to Start>Run and type in "regedit" (without the quotes).
2. Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2
3. Right click on the right hand window and go to New>String Value
4. Type in 'InstallDir' (without quotes) for the string name.
5. Double click it. For the 'Value data', enter wherever you installed Battlefield 2 (eg. C:\\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection ). Note, DON'T put a backslash (\) at the end. Don't include the ( and ) above.

Yes, exactly right , was sending you basically the same info.

In short, Origin is fail,
Currently, and going back to at least December 2009 when I bought a copy, Origin's BF2 Complete Collection installer creates a registry entry in this location:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2]

when the 1.41 installer looks for an entry in this location:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\EA Games\Battlefield 2]

That is specific to 64 Bit Operating Systems,

For 32 systems, remove the \Wow6432Node\ part of the registry location above
