Hello,

I'm thinking about buying a new Pc now or should I wait for the new Haswells and gtx 700?

Current rig:
Gigabyte 5850
AMD Phenom II 955 4x3.2Ghz
4gb 1033 DDR3
60gb Kingston SSD
500w PSU
500Gb and 1Tb HDD
some Asus Mainboard (no OC)

What I would buy (if I buy it now):
Asus gtx 680 dc2t
Msi Mpower z77
Intel 3570k
8gb corsair vengeance 1600 lp
Dark power 650w
Cm Storm Trooper
Thermalright Macho

My advice (I'm not an expert by any means) is wait. Your current build doesn't look too limiting, especially for PR. Unless you are planning on playing new games on ultra settings, whilst editing videos?

The longer you wait the larger the step up in performance for less money. Although stuff is always moving forward and you have to dive in eventually.....

Well, I mostly play PR. But I like to play FC3/BF3 and so on now and then too, preferably on ultra.

Probably going to "dive in" this summer.

So yeah, maybe just be on stand by.

Won't the next GPUs be in like September or something? Quite a ways away.

I don't really care about the haswells as they aren't expected to pull off something big game performance wise.
I just read an article that the ATI 8000 and Nvidia 700 are propably coming out this autumn.

As I don't want to wait that long im going to buy it soon.

I may suggest buying that pc in bits? You may find all you need to upgrade now is the GPU + PSU. I don't know for sure whether the CPU is limiting you at all, but I do know that in most cases it is not the limiter to game performance.

But otherwise pretty solid new pc specs.

Depending on your motherboard and RAM, you might be able to buy a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Prozessor, AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Prozessor or AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition Prozessor,

and
a CPU cooler,
your 650W PSU
and overclock the CPU now.

Total cost would be around 200 Euros, but the upside is you should be able to then sell the entire system in a few months to help fund the purchase of your new system when the Haswell, Radeon 7000 and GeForce 700 parts arrive on the market.

Tbh I'm not sure an upgrade like that is worth it... Processor speed and performance has started to slide in its gains year on year, hence why I think its the GPU that'd need an upgrade and the CPU is fine...

I mean a 5850 isn't that great is it? That surely needs to be upgraded.

I'd just get the new stuff that you want and enjoy it.

I'd suggest selling your current HW for a reasonable price now because when next gen stuff arrives you ll neeed to sell it later for peanuts.

I meant to upgrade my quite recent HW once haswell get released but seeing as its not going to bring any braketrough really I won't bother.

(PS- IMHO GTX680 is waste of money compare to GTX670, and even than 7950 /70 is better value and OC better, than even surpassing GTX 6 series)

If I would only buy the gtx 680 now, my CPU would bottleneck it, thats why im going to buy all at once.
And sadly my I cant oc my 955, because my motherboard is pretty crappy. :/

5850 runs BF3 at middle/high at around 30fps.
