FPS drops and low fps

Post by DavviZ »

Hey everyone! I've got a problem with my game. I have a pretty good PC and it runs most games very well. It should be able to play PR without any problem. But still on all maps I sometimes drop down to about 20-30fps.

If the server is full and I have a lot of people around me the fps drops down low to 20-30 fps. Otherwise it runs at around 70-100fps (like half empty servers).

Is there anyway to fix this problem? Is it just the game or is it something with my spec?
I would love to play PR more fluently.

Spec:
AMD FX-6100 3,3ghz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560Ti 1023mb
GA-970A-UD3
8gb DDR3
1tb western digital

I've had this problem for a while and I bet it has something with PR to do and that plenty of people have it? But I want to know for sure and if there is anyway of fixing it or make it better

As for increasing your fps, we have some common solutions,
delete the shaders cache in your c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache folder
then
1. defrag your hard drive. the PR and addons installers tend to get fragmented, which slows down read/writes and slows down fps.
2A. Download and install IOBit Gamebooster3. Speed Up Slow Computer, Keep PC and Internet Secure, Freeware Download - IObit
MajorGeeks.com has a decent video tutorial on using this program:
Using IOBit Game Booster 3 by Majorgeeks.com - YouTube

2B. Read through these guides:
Windows 8 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs ─ Sean's Windows 8 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs
Windows 7 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs - Sean's Windows 7 Install & Optimization Guide for SSDs & HDDs
Windows 8, 7 , Vista, and XP Tweakguides from Tweakguides.com TweakGuides.com - The TweakGuides Tweaking Companion

3. Download Bitsum ProcessLasso Free. Make sure you download the correct version, Free 32 bit or Free 64 bit, Process Lasso - Automate and optimize priorities, CPU affinities, power profiles, and much more!
-- Start PR, alt tab to desktop, open ProcessLAsso window, right click on PR.exe, TR.exe, BF2.exe, PRMumble.exe and pnkbstra.exe and pnkbstrB.exe and give them default priority status of High, set the Tr PR and BF2 to gaming mode, and give them high or higher access to RAM.
4. Determine which OS you have, and if it is 32 bit or 64 bit. Once you are 100% certain you know , follow this guide for your OS:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... b-ram.html

5. Check your Page File, if set to a sliding value, I suggest
deleting pagefile.
rebooting.
resetting pagefile manually to a single minimum/maximum.
Here is the raw information to determine your correct pagefile: How to determine the appropriate page file size for 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2008 and or Windows 2008 R2
And here is a video tutorial to figure out your correct pagefile size:

then optionally:
manually setting it to a single minimum/maximum, and getting a defrag progam that will move the pagefile to the beginning of your hard drive. A free option:FAQ Special files - How do I defragment "C:\pagefile.sys" (the swapfile)?

6 & 7. Your video card can be overclocked somewhat, and your CPU can be overclocked, depending on your power supply unit, which could IMHO add 3 to 15 fps in those "intense action" areas and firefights where PR's fps tends to drop,
google: MSI Afterburner overclocking gtx 560ti
google: overclocking guide AMD FX-6100

Please be very careful before proceeding with overclocking, and read as many well written tutorials as you can find, and search for some youtube video guides as well. THe PR team can not be held responsible for any results of your attempts at overclocking.

SO.
Step 1. fixes any hard drive issues.
Step 2. shut downs unneeded background processes freeing up RAM and system resources.
Step 3. Gives the BF2 and PR and PRmumble and punkbuster programs High priority for RAM and system resources.
Step 4. Gives the BF2 and PR.exe programs the ability to use individually over 2GB of RAM when needed, and reduces the amount of RAM being reserved (wasted) by the OS.
Step 5. Create fixed size Pagefile and defragmenting it.
Step 6. Overclock GPU
Step 7. Overclock CPU[/QUOTE]

Euhm,....I'd tried this but I don't see the pr.exe etc running in Lasso,...
And when I go to Active Processes there's nothing standing,...
Probably I'm doing something stupid as usually.

(never mind,....I was doing something stupid,...)
