[Help]Lightmap issue.

Where to start. Well the problem is not all of my ground is rendering overgrowth lightmaps. So far I think I have narrowed it down to either an object number problem or a strictly OG problem.
I realized that a large part of my OG lightmaps are not rendering in the northern part of my level. So far here is what I have done.
Cleaned lightmaps folder- regenerated
Deleted lightmaps folder- regenerated
Regenerated on different quality levels
checked my lightmaps folder to see if all the tx's were there, they are.
finally I deleted my OG (which was at just under 25,000) and replaced it with a level that has worked before (20,000)
After reverting back to an OG that I didn't have a problem with, I regenerated and more tx generated that time around, but still missing quite a bit.
Ideas?

Yeah, on the first page he tells that he has the problem, but i didnt find it in the thread. Could you render what you can, then delete bottom half of your overgrowth, and render the top lightmaps, and then put it together in PS maybe. Never did this myself though, so take it with a grain of salt
Or it might be a memory problem, try freeing up your memory, not loading what you dont need in the editor, closing other memory heavy applications.

it's weird that you have reduced the OG count to 20,00 and it didn't make a difference, I had this exact same problem with Vung ro when I had way too much OG, but when I reduced it it worked fine, so it must be something with your memory

My guess is that I will have to find someone with 3ds max to do final lightmaps for me.

As far as I remember only Rhino and a few other devs know how to do overgrowth lightmaps in max

Best suggestion I can give you is import an old level overgrowth folder of a version that you that worked and see if that helps.

When I lowered it down to 20,000 that's exactly what I did it increased the number of patches it did, but not by much.
Total objects is something like 29,000 with the overgrowth at 25,000. I know levels surpass that level of objects that are light mapped just fine.

not just lower it, go back to a previous version.

Yeah, that's what I did, I took the OG from a previous version (the playtest one) that worked, where to OG happened to be 20,000. Put that OG file into this version, and same error but with a few more squares covered than last time.

Memory issue imo
3 options
1) select nearest when lightmapping and lightmap each required section individually in the editor
2) don't load anything that isn't necessary, GPO, undergrowth, colourmaps etc.
3) use Max as you said, which isn't particularly convenient when dealing with OG imo as you'd have to save all the og as objects and import to max...which would take longer overall, though it would actually result in nicer lightmaps if anyone looked at them closely.

Well, if there is a free version out there that could handle it I would be all for looking into it. By the way, do you know if 3ds uses DXT5?

Yeah, you can use DDS files of any type in max. DXT5 is just one codec to compress data meant for storage in DDS format. 3ds max allows you to take an image with pretty much any appropriate format and use it in a material.

Tried 1 and 2, didn't work. I am pretty worried about going about this lightmaps in max as I have zero experience with it.
