Project Reality Forums

With the upcoming release of PR v1.0 I think that it'd be great if we could not only get old players to return, but get new players in as well what with PR being optimized as much as it will be. What are some methods that all PR players can use to spread the word about Project Reality so we can attract more players to this fantastic mod?

Youtube, reddit, telling people and friends about it and be nice and welcoming to new players so that they wont leave again.

Youtube is a good way. When there's a new release people instantly go search for the new version. I noticed that during 0.98. Get 1.0 videos up ASAP when it releases

Hit up forums you know BF2 players used to frequent - players with PC's not good enough to run newer games, but are probably suffering a similar fate to us with playerbase moving off to newer games... Start now with the DEV casts

So does anyone know some forums where we could get started? I frequent techsupportforum.com so I'll post some stuff about it there.

I think youtube is the best way to spread the word, especially if we get a famous commentator to play the mod, I have seen huge booms in population in gaming communities just because of 1 video by a commentator.

But then he found PlanetSide 2.

I know the guy who does Angry Joe Show (Joe I guess) likes to cover mods and in one review I watched he says he loves realism in games instead of just action action action. If someone comments on a video of his that he should review Project Reality and everyone likes the comment maybe he'll see it and consider reviewing it. He gets quite a few views per episode.

Heh, I would wait for 1.0 to be released, then a review, rather than reviewing .98.

Haha yea we gotta drag Angry Joe away from Guild Wars 2 and make a review of Project Reality. He looks a lot on game-play and less on fancy graphics normally so I think he would like it.

If PR releases, and then we rush Reddit with upvotes, we'll make the front page and about 3,000,000 million people will see our game.

If you don't have one officially, are you taking applications?

You should all gather a list here of the most famous videogame commentators and when 1.0 comes out I will go viral on them to promote PR.

"Realistic" targets like Angry Joe though. I don't imagine Game Grumps for e.g. ever going for it.

Some revewwers who have common sense and are serious enough not to go WTF when seeing PR.

And everybody should paste the release announcement to their FB status, forum, community, whatever they can find. Likes, upvotes, reviewers... everything that comes to mind.

Just make sure you post in the PR forum to let people know when you've commented on a video saying they should review PR. Make sure to give us a link so we can go and like/upvote/favorite your comment.

Is there any way we can use Twitter to get us out? Any people have like a game review twitter account set up?

The PR subreddit is pretty dead compared to some other game-specific subreddits. Chivalry and Planetside both see an awful lot of activity, it would be cool if people could upload screenshots and videos to attract attention.

I don't think we should totally abandon /r/projectreality. When I got on reddit, I searched for "Project Reality" because I had no clue there was a Project Awesome. I keep wondering how many people we lost who maybe showed interest in PR, checked Reddit and found an inactive PR subreddit and decided it was dead so they never downloaded it.

probably none, how hard is it to google project reality and get all the info?

When 1.0 comes out, there will be many new players joining the servers causing a huge drop in teamplay and overall quality of the gameplay, which will make people quite PR after a short time again.

imo the most important task for every one that is an active PR player is to keep the teamplay at the highest level possible, create squads, teach new players, maybe create training servers for this purpose, be friendly towards newbies and so on.

In terms of PR-PR, I'll go to all the forums I am active in and post a topic there, and also try to encourage my friends again (I failed to do so 1000 times).
