Hey,

So I registered here a long time ago with the intention of playing, but my good PC died soon after and I didn't have a computer capable of doing much gaming.

But I recently bought a gaming laptop, and I was just wondering how I go about playing. I re-installed BF2 from steam, how do I update it to the version needed to play? I'm fairly new to PC gaming, especially mods, the only game I've really used any mods on is Doom 2.

You have to download bf 2 1.41 patch Battlefield 2 - Client Patch 1.41 (Full Install) ? Download ? BF-Games.net
then bf 2 1.5 patch Battlefield 2 - Client Patch 1.5 Final ? Download ? BF-Games.net

And finaly get the newest PR version from the download section: Downloads | Project Reality

you install 0.97 first and then patch it to 0.98

As soon as you done with all of that you should install and run PR mumble (directional voice program)

That should be all you need to play.

edit: Maybe those downloads are better for you, the other are EU located

First of all you might wanna check which version your game is.
Start up BF2 and check the lower right part of the menu screen for the version.
If its 1.41 you should download 1.50 and update (just Google it).

After you update, you go here Downloads | Project Reality and download PR:BF2 v0.97 Full and PR:BF2 v0.97 to v0.98 Patch.

Also download PR Mumble https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f196-pr-highlights/104754-pr-mumble-public-beta-v1-0-a.html

Always run PR Mumble before you launch PR (and run as administrator if you are on win7/vista)

Steam version is already 1.5 gents.

You only need to download PR v0.97 parts 1, 2 and 3, then download the patch to v0.98, also download PR Mumble in order to have a good gaming experience here, read the manual and find a squad with a good squad leader.

Almost forgot, you can download PR and other BF2 Mods with Desura, it'll automatically install the mod and update it, I don't know if PR is up-to-date over there, since my PR is not from there, but I have FH2 and AIX2, both of them are working fine and updated, so PR might be as well.

Do as people above said. And read the manual that comes with the install.

Don't forget to enable 'Overlays' in Mumble.

Go to Configure -> Settings -> Overlays -> 'enable overlay'
