[CODE] New radar system

When I was working on radar for Falklands and was testing missiles properties, I have came with idea of radar working with normal PR.

It will be another weapon with bigger lock range, tiny lock cone, enormous lock distance and zero ammo.

It will be used to Observe enemy aircraft movement, which will give AA defense more time to react, or to tell own pilot when enemy aircraft is. It can by also used for CAS vehicles, to be able to see lockboxes from bigger distance.

There is video presenting how this system works.

In this video radar shows enemies within 3000m.

Main user of this radar should be Anti Air Vehicles, next Jets and maybe even Choppers.

combined arms used a similar system, with the cost of using radar being you have a blocked view of the world where you can only see the radar dots.

wow thats pretty cool! not sure if i like the idea of giving it to jets and helos, for gameplay sake. but imagine this being a tool for the commander or even a CAS SL, maybe theres a way to put it up on a radar display and whoevers watching has to relay the info to the pilots.

Making it black screen and showing only dots when aircrafts is would be easy to do, something similar to Exocet HUD. It is quite interesting idea. Will look into it.

I am also not sure about giving it to jets and helis, it need to be tested, but it could be very useful to anti air vehicles and some medium or heavy AA(like those used on Falklands)

I was sitting in the chinese AA (?tungska) the other day and i was thinking of how the huge spinning thing on my vehicle should be telling me where the enemy Aircraft is...man this would be so cool to add into the game. I wonder if the radar also picks up flares. That could be used as chaff to confuse the radar.

When I implement it into PR, it will show all kinds of heat-signatures, both aircrafts, flares and static fires.

This is great!! Has always been lame and shit to spin the AA around all the time. Having some delay on switching to the AA missile system would balance this out a bit since its getting much harder for choppers if this gets implemented.
This way AA vehices will be a real threat for all kind of aircraft like it is in real life.

Edit: is it possible to make AA missiles able to lock on to friendly aircrafts? Its unrealistic that this does not work and it would make AAV-s and handhelds like the Strela or Fim 92 much more challenging. The Radar woud change everything in air to ground an ground to air fight. This way AA?s need to be Up to date to the Map and maybe on mumble all the time what wold make this vehicle more effective to use for 2 guys. Mostly AAVs are only used by 1 guy what is annoying.

AFAIK, some AA systems use IFF signals to prevent friendly fire, dunno if its on heavy AA systems(like selfpropelled platforms and/or manpads)

Yeah, dont knoe the english word for it but they use stroposkops to show that they are friendly. AAVs can see it , handhelds not, since its infrared. Maybe only making an AA lock possible for handhelds not for AAVS. Wih 100p Servers Airtrans will be needed much more since the devs changed the supply system. More choppers will fly more often. So with a Radar system like that it would get very hard for Choppers to avoid them.
