Hi everyone, I'm new to playing PR, a friend of mine has convinced me to try it out so i've purchased Battlefield 2 Complete on Steam. I have gotten the 3 download exe's as well as the patch to 0.98 for PR, installed everything, but upon launching, I receive two errors. The first error:
Application Load Error 5:0000065434
Then, the next error:
unable to open bf2 process
The error logged in prError.log regarding this:
Saturday, February 16, 2013 11:49:45 PM
---------------------------------
System.Exception: An error has occurred while trying to launch BF2.
Details are as follows.

System.Exception: A time out has occurred when trying to connect, check that your internet connection is active.
Details are,

at c.a(String A_0)
at c.a(String A_0)
at k.a(String[] A_0)
I have done some extensive troubleshooting and searching around these forums and elsewhere, to no avail. so far, I have done the following:

- pr.exe is run as administrator
- pr.exe run in compatibility mode: Windows XP, SP3. (I have read conflicting posts regarding this, so I have tried it both with and without)
- Completely removed PRMumble, including registry clean, as I read in a different thread that this potentially was causing an issue.
- Installed the mod using the torrent links
- Installed the mod using Desura

My system specs:

Processor Information:
Vendor: Intel
Speed: 3292 Mhz
4 logical processors
4 physical processors
Operating System Version:
Windows 7 (64 bit)

Primary Display Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Primary VRAM: -2048 MB
Supported MSAA Modes: 2x 4x 8x

Largest Free Hard Disk Block: 888651 Mb

Battlefield 2 Version: 1.5.3153-802.0

I have searched around for others posting a launch error similar to mine, and the most recent I have found was 3 years old, and did not have info for Win7 there. If there is a more up to date thread, I apologize I did not find it!

Any help is appreciated, I'm stoked to try this game out and its a huge bummer I'm stuck!

Can you launch BF2 with no dramas?

That's correct, no issues at all.

I've updated my post to include the BF2 version as well.

Ok, please detail the exact steps you took when you installed PR 0.97 & 0.98 :)

For the Torrents:

For each of the 0.97 Installers, I pointed them to my Battlefield 2 directory as it requested, went thru all the prompts normally. I can't think of anything out of the ordinary that I did. For the third installer, I selected to install PRMumble. Sorry it's not a very detailed description, it seemed to be a very standard installation other than it being in 3 parts!

EDIT: I do remember that when installing the first of the three, I got an error about my BF2 version. However, after running BF2 and creating an account, this error stopped happening and I proceeded normally from there.

For Desura, it essentially automated everything, so there's not much to say there.

I have since removed PRMumble as I read a post that mentioned it causing launch errors in certain cases in conjunction with Steam.

I'm starting to think this is a permissions error of some sort, as the first error with the long digit code at the end is apparently outputted for more than just PR. It seems to be a Steam error about insufficient permissions, but I am yet to figure out where that might be. My user account is the administrator of this comp, and I do not ever have permissions problems for pretty much any program. Currently I have bf2.exe and pr.exe set to run as administrator.

Okay everyone, I've figured out what the problem was. Thank you all for trying to help so far, I appreciate the effort :)

I had Battlefield 2 installed in an external Steam Library on another drive instead of the default location.

My friend suggested to try moving Battlefield 2 (and therefore, the mod as well), into the default game storage location with Steam itself. After doing this and running Battlefield 2 once, it now works fine.

Thanks again everyone. Hopefully this thread will solve this issue for anyone else this happens to. It may be a good idea if this could be added to installation warnings regarding Steam (if it isn't already there, and I missed it..)

Thanks for the info, as you probably know, Steam pretty recently added as a program feature the ability to split your Steam library, up until then the individual had to manually split their steam library, using various 3rd party programs.

I'll make note of it and update the sticky posts.
