kokan is a sweet map and looks a lot like helmand province so it makes sense to put british soldiers as another faction as nothing new would need to be added. what are your thoughts?

Unfortunately the Brits have different voice files than the Americans and Canadians (which use the same)... and we don't switch factions that have different voice files because then the Brits would have an American accent and then Brits get all upset. You know how they are about their "proper" English.

I actually thought about adding the US on Shijia Valley, but we run into the same problem. You can only have two voice files per map regardless of how many layers you have.

If we do this , I demand a Ross Kemp kit and a special commo rose for him with his voice acting.

You can't just change the map name to what forces will be using it? I haven't done any modding for anything since I fiddled around with a sound mod for the original Call of Duty so I might be wrong... but here's my thought.

If the map is US vs Taliban, name the map file/folder Kokan_US_vs_Tali (or something to that effect).
If you want to have Brits vs Taliban, just copy the map file/folder and rename the copy Kokan_Brit_vs_Tali. Then just change the necessary files to substitute the Brits for the US faction.

Yes, we sure could and in some case we did that with the Vietnam battles, like Operation Barracuda. If you look we have "op_barracuda" and "prv_barracuda" because we had two distinctly different versions of the US loading, but we don't think it's worth the extra file size to do that for a less drastic change like US to GB on a modern map.

One thing to also keep in mind is we shouldn't be shoving every faction on every map "just because we can". Factions on the map should be the ones that best fit it. From a realism perspective, Kokan, while a fictional Afghan map, is set in North East Afghanistan, where the US mainly operate, where the British forces mainly operate in Southern Afghanistan and hardly operate in any other parts. While I agree, the British desperately need a Afghan map, if we shoved every faction on every map, only the most popular factions would ever get played on every map....

Oh well that's fair enough if you can't do it but i do agree that the British do need an afghan map desperately. And having Ross Kemp and his filming crew tag along would be pretty funny.

i do agree though, seeing as The brit's are fighting in the Helmand province still. an afghan map for them is kinda needed!

Biggest reason, too small. Map was only 512m x 512m, smallest maps we have in PR currently are 1km by 1km, which is 4 times the area of a 512x512m map.

They would today, only be useful as clan skirmish maps with 8 vs 8 players before the map gets really spammy and you can't utilize any of PRs deployables, vehicles or anything other than basic infantry weapons on it, just simply to small.

The mod has evolved, that map doesn't really have a place anymore. Compare the 0.5 trailer to the 0.95/0.98 trailers and it's really evident. I've also included a helmland province gameplay video so you can see.. it was really fun back in the day when we were just BF2 players playing a mod... but now we're PR players - It's different

anyways, theres a singleplayer version of helmand thats in that map pack if you really want to try it. It even has a scimitar with that non functioning cage on it. lol.

Ye, at the time of v0.5 OGT was the biggest map with the British on it and we had to put it on something since it was ready

Everytime you use the commo rose his head gets bigger until it eventually explodes causing grenade-like damage.

yeah what happened to this awesome looking map?

Maybe Dev's should add New French faction to Muttrah?Or adding Canadians in fallujah or other INS map?Because there's not much Ins maps with Canadians
