It's not balanced because we haven't had the time to change them and test them properly before 0.98. I, one of the main dev of Normandy, didn't even know about 0.98 before the announcement.

I read somewhere that US used iron sight springfield 1903 in WWII. Can anyone confirme ? (no reliable source) Would that be something possible/realistic to add ?

Yeah they did, but it was mostly for behind frontlines troops such as artillery and logistics.

Before 1944 they also were used by the grenadiers because the attachment for the garands was not finished.

They can't hit anything further than 10m you would be lucky if you did and if you do it always takes 2 shots to kill sometimes even 3. The Bar is useless while the MG 42 can mow down whole squads with only 2-3 seconds deploy time. But really the worst balance issue is the standard rifles the German bolt action is very accurate and one shot kill, the US ones kill in multiple shots, piss poor precision for rifles and worst of all the recoil turns it into an AA gun after firing a single shot. Don't say that US weapons are better at close range because they are not time and again I see German rifles beat the US ones no matter the range.

Just improve the accuracy on the US rifles please that's the only real problem.
The next release will be better. Will be released sometime after v1.0 has been released.

I did, so that's fine ;) . Besides, it was exactly the same as the release we did just a couple of weeks before that :p .

Currently the M1 Carbine in the game has less recoil and a larger mag than the Garand but it's less accurate.

I too, found the BAR really lackluster, which is partly due to Specialists having automatic firearms, and more heavily due to the German counterpart to it being the MG42, which is in all aspects a much superior weapon. Do not fear though, the MG42 will go to the HMG class, so it will be available in a much more limited quantity, whether the Germans will even get an AR I have no knowledge of.

The AR will not be the MG42. Right now we're a bit undecided between 2 weapons

just an opinion, maybe give the germans machinnegunner MG42 as ALT and MG34 as STD and automatic rifle whatever you want (FG 42?)

or just as the us in vanilla PR, make two factions of the germans, 1 has both mg42 and mg 34 and the other faction has only one of those.

for the germans it would be good to have both mg's as they are always defending on current maps

If springfield is implimented it should not really be a very common field weapon maybe for sniper and possibly a less used kit(like combat engineer). In the US Army during WW2 it was not fielded much but if a US Marine faction is ever added it was much more common and could be a main infantry weapon

No man, we won't have an MG42 with scope at all... Or any MG with scope for that matter.

The only MG42s that had scope were tripod mounted, called MG42 Laffette, it would need to be a depoyable. You throw it on the ground then "enter" it, like a static weapon, but this system is quite unreliable in BF2, sometimes the MG just won't deploy and disappear or deploy in weird places.

hmm well that sucks :-P would have been cool to see a MG42 with scope in a MG emplacement.
