I originally posted this on my youtube channel,
but then when I started thinking about it I thought I should also post it here.
"I just want to point out something that I love about PR, and that no other game has really captured yet. @31:20 my squad defended a damaged Bradly APC while their squad was performing repairs. Since we were able to successfully defend the Bradly, we got the benefit of APC support from the other APC. Its this kindof emergent gameplay that doesn't really exist anywhere else. Its almost like watching a Triple A COD storyline unfold in front of you, but the difference is that its all real.
Seriously think about that... Battlefield 3, Call of Duty, Modern Warfare: they all try to give you this feeling of realism, comradeship, and teamwork in their singleplayer campaigns through linear scripting and storytelling. But ultimately you don't have any REAL impact on the world around you. Every single player campaign for AAA military shooters tries to create an experience that Project Reality creates naturally. PR is almost like the most advanced openworld singleplayer game ever made.
I actually remember from the first Modern Warfare, the mission where you have to defend the damaged tank. That's a perfect example to support what I'm talking about. Our experience was almost the exact same for defending that Bradly. But it wasn't some scripted scene, it was genuine emergent event. I don't know... Sometimes I just think people don't appreciate how special a game we have here... I wish more games tried to give us what we get from PR."

Fun Fact: Instead of saying "Watch this video, skip to 31:20" If you have the video paused where you want other people to start watching, right click on the video and click "Copy video URL at current time" and then post the link it just gave you. When people click on the video it will automatically skip ahead to where you want it to start playing.
But I totally agree with you. I played through Battlefield 3's campaign recently and I used to like it, but playing it again, I couldn't get over that I had seen everything already and even through the maps are bigger than Call of Duty's, it still felt really scripted, especially the way they bttle neck you into a path. It's kind of like a false sandbox.

Nice post, it's hard to disagree with you! Although the cover was nice, unfortunately they weren't attacked at that time

I have to agree with you. When you're taken into that ambience, all those realistic sounds all around you and mumble local communication, it's just the realism we need and it works. Long live PR

Great gameplay right there. I'd watch the full vid if I had the time right now.
I just don't know why you didn't aim when on the Humvee .50 cal!

Yeah, I know, it all looks easier when just sitting and watching the gameplay. Didn't mean to be so judgmental haha
I can only think about the things I should've done differently when watching my own videos. But you can't do much when it's all going to hell!

but its always good to look back and criticize yourself haha no offense taken
hopefully I'll keep getting better at making the best decisions more quickly
but my philosophy is a mediocre tactical action is better than no action at all haha

I mean PR has that kind of immersion that most of other games don't have, I didn't mean that PR is a simulation or that we want it to be a simulation

I like PR just the way it is, because it's not too complicated

Yep, PR is unique in every way. such as the game i had the other day which was Insurgency at Iron Ridge. not a widely played map, but there was a defense, at least in my view, one of the best defenses we ever pulled off, even our reinforcements were cut off i was with Militia at that time, played as a Medic which became very important. me and about 20 others were held out in a tall apartment building, almost every window of the building has a gun sticking out, we were against Russian Infantry, an APC, and a bad guy who sneaked in here which we exchanged shots at each other, and then we had a rare Fixed Bayonet Fight. which took about 15 seconds for the fight between us two to finish. but most of the time spent in the apartment is healing and reviving everybody which was both frantic, and morale boosting to some. you people try to imagine what it was like, endless gunfire, explosions from grenades and APC fire, and the rare blades clinging on the ground floor. also calling my name and calling for medic everywhere in the building. we held out for about 10 minutes before we were finally overrun. we may have lost the game later on, but i'll never forget what happened at the apartments of Iron Ridge. too bad there's a small chance of returning to Iron Ridge for me. i'll be the medic every chance i get. that game was a true test for my medic skills. this whole thing is something out of War Epic movie. but like Bluedrake said, "it's all real"
