Hey, I wasn't sure which forum to post this in but here goes. I just bought a 32" Vizio LED HDTV and I am using it as my computer screen but when I go to run PR I get the PR title screen, it goes black for a sec and then back to desktop. The game has worked fine for me for years until today when I hooked up the TV. It's HDMI in to my GeForce GT220 if that helps any. I also tried lowering the resolution too but that didn't help. Oh and BF2 won't launch either but I can run CoD2....

Question: what is native refresh rate of the TV?
Question: what is native resolution of the TV? i.e. 720, 1080.


Your BF2 video options are set to a resolution or a refresh rate incompatible with your TV.

Edit your PR shortcut and ( what AfterDune said ) put this in it:

Don't just copy paste this, but adjust to your install location. Make sure you dont omit quotation marks or it wont work.

If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.

the other way to do this,
go to Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 or 0002 or whatever you use, and find Video.con
Open Video.con in notepad, and find the line similar to:
VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz

And adjust it to your TV resolution and refresh rate.

Save the file, then try to start vanilla BF2.

My TV is 1366x768 (720p)
Refresh Rate is 60Hz

I tried renaming the shortcut and this is what I got

I also tried the other method. I went to the video con file and changed the res to 1366x768@60Hz for both 0001 and 0002 and vanilla didn't work still.

Also update Documents/Battlefield 2/Profiles/Default/Video.con to 1366x768@60Hz.

I changed my Default Profile video con to match my tv resolution and it worked!!
