Will the PC requirements for PR 1.0 stay the same as the current build or will it increase?

We are focusing much more on optimizing the performance this time, however with all the new "shiny" contents (effects f.e.) it ll may take some more resources in general.

Pretty much the same.

You should try to get as much RAM as possible as the loading times will increase due to the countless new objects.

How much RAM is ok? I have 4. But I have quite **** load times, and if it's not a hard disk making them rubbish I might get some more.

I hope you guys won't make it like Nations @ War mod, which basically asked for computers that didn't even exist at the time Vanilla BF2 came out.

good RAM might speed up load times a little, but if you want to reduce load times significantly, you need a very fast HDD or better yet, SSD with fast RAM, although that's really all the SSD will help with, reduced load times for playing with PR:BF2 since everything it needs is loaded into the RAM, and not out of the drive like some games.
Having enough RAM is important for not running out of RAM on loading a large map with a lot of vehicles, buildings etc in it, like Shijia Valley, although the alternative is to lower your GFX settings, mainly your textures, so then you don't need to load such high rez textures into your RAM.
EDIT:

In terms of hardware requirements, as already stated above, its pretty much the same as it is now. Nothing that drastic has changed although we have added some new stuff, and optimized some old stuff.

What's the recommended spec, not minimum, but rather a spec that will run the game comfortably?

You definitely need more than 2GB of RAM and 64MB of VRAM. Screw my laptop.
When my desktop was working (before my PSU fried) I had 2GB of RAM in it, and I had to upgrade it to 4GB (DDR2, of course). With 2GB, you'll lag when a chopper/plane is moving fast over a high number of objects. I would crash every time I flew over Muttrah with 2GB of RAM
So yeah, 4GB for PR because there's to many objects

and 2GB of DDR3 is enough (my friend tested it, although with a i5, which is quite better than my crappy Athlon 64 x2

)
EDIT : Even with 4GB DDR2, I lagged in Ramiel lol

That brings me to state here that I believe a portion of our CTDs are caused by lack of memory. It happened a lot when one of my chips busted and I was running 2GB RAM. I'm back to 4GB and it only crashes occasionally.

is 8GB of ram and a R7850 video card enough? thx

I play with 2GBs of RAM on lowest. It is MANAGEABLE. But I already had the helicopter-over-Muttrah experience.
You know some USB keys claim that they can speed up your computer with extra RAM? Do they actually work?

Play with good specs and still have somewhat low fps

Ready Boost don't add RAM... It only speed up the writing/reading time if you have a slow HDD. USB 2.0 is so slow, even if you would add 16GB of "RAM" with Ready Boost, it would be hardly noticeable. Even USB 3.0 Ready Boost struggles at improving your performances lol

I've been building new computers recently trying to see what the "minimum" specs are for me personally. Minimum being atleast a 720 lines, all low settings except for geometry at high, lighting at medium, and AA at x2. with a solid 30 fps, no lag. What I came up with was a X3 AMD based system that still came out to around $500. The main price being the SSD which have gone down in price and the case and power supply. The new A8 systems look to be promising to save money on the power supply and case. My goal is to build a system that can play battlefield on all high settings for under $400 US, that can be built using all brandnew parts, that anyone could build or I could build and advertise to sell for no profit, just to help get more players into good computers.

Vicious, not sure it's worth building a budget PC out of all-new parts. If the argument is failures, I believe that the money saved would far outweigh the cost of these, and you would probably have a faster PC than the one you'd be limited to with the new parts.
Been about 4 years since I built mine (all from new, when I had a disposable income and wanted to buy something cool). It still does the job but this thread has just reminded me that the performance monster catches up with everyone! I remember laughing when I bought it because RAM was so cheap and so clearly overkill for the games of the day (BF2 and Falcon 4.0 if I'm honest). DCS:BS put an end to that though..
