Most of the guys in my clan use bandicam, it seems quite awesome and they say the files are much smaller.

[QRF] Clan - Compound Defence - PR 0.98 - YouTube (this as an example)

Dxtory is great.
Just render the videos and you are good.
You can do that with windows movie maker or more professional programs.

MPEG-2 is what we used at college for exporting packages for news. It's a smaller file size while still looking great.

I just downloaded and installed Bandicam but can't seem to get it to record my ingame sound (picked up my mic), even followed the offical help for XP for this problem.

My screen:

As you can see, the volume for Stereo Mix is blanked out. Any solutions or help for me?

I can recommend Dxtory, it's a really good capture software. It offers you a lot of features and a lot of freedom. I've made a tutorial for it a long time ago. Let's see if I can find it.

Here it is:

Fraps is fine, compression is the key, use the MPEG-4 codec for encoding.

I dislike Fraps. The price/performance ratio on that software is scam for me (assuming you bought it). You are so limited with this programm. It would be ok for 5€ but not for the 30€ they want for it. I just can recommend Dxtory. It gives you so much freedom of choice wil maintaining to be easy to use. For the same price of fraps.

Like I said, I made a tutorial on how to use it. Check out the first page, last post for a link.

Bandicam - $39.00 USD
Dxtory - $38.04 USD
Fraps - $37.00 USD

Prices are basically the same.
I already own Fraps. Simple, easy to use and has a new feature that allows movie split into 4Gb files

Never heard of that ratio. Could you elaborate?

Dxtory seems to be the best program, when it comes down to performance. Even though Bandicam makes smaller files, i suffer from FPS drops, when using it or Fraps. So if performance issues do not matter stick with Bandicam or Fraps. Otherwise use Dxtory. And thanks for your Tutorial Weed-Killer!

I also recommend to use Dxtory, mainly because of performance.

Some guy named JackFrags made a very nice tutorial about using Dxtory, sound and rendering the clips. It's very nice and helped me set up Dxtory by myself. He also brings some info about Virtual Audio Cable, program to record different things in different audio channels, so you can for example mute them later in the editing. (You can also play clear music with it on PR Mumble, but I'm not going to tell you how.)

He used the same method as I. I knew about this about right from the start when I started using Dxtroy. That was back when Deus Ex Human Revolution came out.

I should have made that video back then. Oh well.
