Hello and welcome.
Study manual, prove yourself as rifleman and then move to other kits and battlefield professions.
Use microphone, ask others, watch as others do and learn from results.

The best tip I can give to you is to be a open and friendly VOIP:er, eventually you will find some guys and perhaps co-op for up to 2-3 h, ask them questions and have fun!

The manual gives you your essential skills and thereafter the most important thing, an understanding of the language in the game.

Hello and welcome to PR!

As they already said, reading the manual is a must to get an good overview of what PR is, so do it it shouldn't take that long. And a good tip I'd give you is to tell other players you're new, so people will be willing to help you if you have questions, therefor don't hold back asking :)

Jump right in (you know you want to) and learn. Let your squad mates know you are new. Join a squad with a specific task e.g infantry defence, mortars. Also you might want to join an empty server to test out you keyboard settings and get comfortable with movement and game mechanics. Welcome to Project Reality!

Welcome, ko_alem, to the Project Reality Forums!
I'm always late on these, but since everyone pretty much said what to do to improve gameplay I'll just reiterate that its paramount to communicate properly to get the most fun out of this mod!
Hope you'll enjoy PR and I'll see you on the battlefield.

Moved to PR:BF2 General Discussion, most threads of this kind were created here :)

Welcome! Make sure your microphone and mumble works, and follow the advice of the posters above; get used to the Rifleman kit first, join infantry squads and do tell the squad leader that you are new to the game, so he won't assign you any tasks that require in-depth knowledge of the maps, kits, equipment etc. without instructing you first :)

I recommend trying EVERY faction's special weapons in coop before playing.

Especially RPG-7 and RPG-7 with tandem warhead.

Aren't they fired the same way? Instead I suggest you try the russian Heavy AT with and without scope to feel the difference. Some players prefer the one without scope but The one with scope is easier to use at long range I think.

Russian army faction

RPG 7 V2 is the scoped version (pickup at crate with left click on Anti-tank)
RPG 7 is the Iron sight version (pickup at crate with right click on Anti-tank)

download and instal PR Mumble 1.0, not only it is required on quite a few servers, it will make your experience much better.

Mumble Voice Program in Project Reality - Project Reality Forums should be your friend here.
