Hello
For some strange reason, every time I use mumble the headset stops working and all the sounds are "rerouted" towards laptop speakers. Microphone is still working though. Its kinda annoying. Any advice is welcomed

Laptop specs, headset specs and any other relevant information you can provide will make this process faster.

try this :
Run mumble and go to > Configure > Settings > Audio Input . In the Interface section change the Device from "Default Directsound Voice Input" to External or Integrated Microphone !
It should work correctly now !!

Problem solved: mumble settings>audio output>interface>device: speakers and headphones(IDT High definition audio codec)
